The Suns lost the first game in the Kevin Durant era in the Playoffs against the Clippers. It is safe to say they’re shaken since they expected an easier matchup with so many injury problems the Clippers are facing. Tonight we’re in for a 2nd entry of this highly anticipated matchup in the Footprint Center.

The Suns are a very top-heavy team, talent-wise. They lack depth and playoff experience which we were able to witness against old dogs like the Clippers. K. Durant didn’t even have a bad game with 27 Points, 9 Rebounds and 11 Assists. When you go past Booker, Durant, Ayton and Paul there is not much quality left in this roster.

They’ve been inconsistent during the whole year and our unpopular opinion is that they may even exit the playoffs here if Kawhi and the Clippers come to play again. Reality says the Suns lost the last 3 games against the Clippers. It seems the matchups don’t work in their favour. We are surely in for a close banger tonight. The Suns will be missing C. Payne due to a back injury.

The Clippers have delivered in the first game. Vintage Playoff Kawhi is too much even for a stacked team of superstars, it seems. He finished the game with 38 points with 14-23 from the field. The supporting cast was on point as well, Gordon, Zubac and Mann having delivered their share for the first victory is very important. There is not much to say or too many stats to refer to before an NBA playoff game, the team with the better mental approach will win, talent is there for everyone. We are counting on the Clippers to beat the spread tonight which is set to -7.5 which seems very high, taking into account their recent success (and success against this particular opponent!)

Tyrone Lue knows how to win. The Clippers have shown us the way in the first game, the basket is in the Sun’s field now. We will not make a bold prediction that the Clippers will leave Texas with 2-0 but we believe they have enough strength to stay in the game until the final whistle, and then, everything is possible with automatic midrange Kawhi. This will be their plan. We are backing them up to beat the spread.
