The Portland Trail Blazers take on the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night, after an unsuccessful double-meeting against the Nuggets. The Pistons have actually won their last game against the Kings, marking their 7th victory since the start of the season. They are still pinned to the bottom of the east, while the Blazers are 15-35 on the season and sitting comfortably in 14th place in the west.

If the Blazers expected a difficult year, the Pistons have taken it to another level. Both teams are heading for the depths of the NBA Draft lottery, with player development being the main priority for the remainder of the season.

Our Portland Trail Blazers vs Detroit Pistons prediction is for the Pistons to cover the +5.5 handicap and for Jalen Duren to have at least 12 rebounds tonight.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS VS DETROIT PISTONS SAME-GAME PARLAY:

Detroit Pistons +5.5

The Pistons have quietly won four of their last 11 games. Sure, that’s not much to get excited about, but it represents a massive step in the right direction after starting the season 3-36.

Cade Cunningham’s absence appears to have helped. While not necessarily a reflection on Cunningham, it is perhaps an indication that Monty Williams needed to tweak his rotations. Jaden Ivey, in particular, has excelled.

Portland is potentially without several of their core players. Yes, it’s the second night of a back-to-back for the Pistons, but we like the odds on them keeping this close.

Jalen Duren over 11.5 rebounds

Jalen Duren has cleared this line in four of his last six, including 15 boards on Wednesday night. Portland is 20th in rebounding rate over the last 10 games, and will be lacking size if Deandre Ayton is unavailable.

Only Clint Capela has a better rebounding rate than Duren. We’re confident taking the over here.
