Sacramento Kings vs Boston Celtics Best Bet: Back Kings To Cover At Home

Sacramento Kings vs Boston Celtics Best Bet: Tuesday, March 21st
The 49-23 Boston Celtics are 4.5-point favourites on the road against the 43-28 Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night. Boston was winners by 18 points when the teams met at TD Garden back in November, but the teams have been very similar since that point.
Kevin Huerter missed the Kings’ loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday night, but the hosts have no other players on the injury report. Payton Pritchard joins Danilo Gallinari on the sidelines for the road team.
The Celtics have cooled after a scorching start. Sacramento has maintained its pace. This calendar year, Sacramento is sixth in net rating with a 24-13 record. Boston places eighth with an almost identical net rating, having gone 23-13.

The profile of the two teams is different, even if the overall numbers are not. The Kings have the league’s best offence in 2023, while the Celtics rank middle of the pack.
Just like last season, defence is the stronger suit for Boston, where they rank sixth since the turn of the year. Sacramento remains a poor defensive team, placing in the bottom six in defensive rating and with a lack of talent on that end of the floor.
The Boston offence will like their chances here. The Kings’ options to guard Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are limited. After allowing relatively few threes early in the season, Sacramento has settled as an average team in that regard, which is an area where Boston are very strong.
On the other side of the ball, confidence is not an issue for this Kings offence either. They have scored 122 or more in 11 of their last 13. De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis both have compelling All-NBA cases.
Being on the second night of a back-to-back clearly contributes to the Kings being 4.5-point dogs, but a rest disadvantage has not been an issue for them this season. With fewer days off than their opponents, Sacramento has covered the spread 72.2% of the time. The Celtics are only 5-6 against the spread with a rest advantage.
Sacramento Kings vs Boston Celtics Best Bet
While Sacramento has lost a handful of home games in 2023, only three of those have been by more than four points. Golden 1 Center is the NBA’s best atmosphere in 2022-23.
Given how they have performed in games with minimal rest and the impact of homecourt advantage, this spread seems too large. Sure, the Kings are probably underdogs after losing in Utah, but let’s not forget the Celtics have been far from their best this month.
Take the Kings to cover here as they continue their push for the number two seed in the Western Conference.
