San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors Best Bet: Friday, January 13th

We predicted almost the exact result on Wednesday in that Celtics vs Pelicans game and cashed a nice ticket at 1.97 odds! But guess what? That was then and this is now, and we have a rich slate of 10 games for tonight! I’m getting out my crystal basketball and it’s telling me that we have a dog sleeping in the backyard on a Friday night.

I’m looking at the San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors game for some solid value, and you may be surprised to find out I’m once again betting against the public. Shocker!

San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors Preview

Fri, Jan 13th 23:30 (UK time)

The San Antonio Spurs are one of those teams that are going through a rebuilding period and losing has become a normal part of life. But the Spurs are never going to be a doormat you can walk over and get away with it – no hard feelings. Despite having a very young team, they actually try to win games, and can often surprise. They have certainly surprised the bookmakers, covering the spread in 8 of their last 10 games, including each of their last 5 at home. Yes, they are 14th in the west with a 13-29 record, but that’s exactly why we should be backing them against the spread.

The Spurs are still being coached by Greg Popovich and the philosophy has stayed the same – pass the damn ball! They are still in development, and there is very little to take away from their stats, but the Spurs are 3rd in assists per game, 7th in pace, 5th in field goal attempts and 7th in offensive rebounding. Yes, they still make a lot of mistakes, but these youngsters love to push the pace and they will leave you in the dust if you don’t keep up. But the biggest reason for backing them tonight is their performance at Alamodome recently, as well as those 8.5 juicy points the bookies are giving up ATS.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are the defending champs this year, if you can believe it. After a horrible start, they managed to slightly improve their form, but are now again on a 3-game losing skid. The Dubs are 8th in the west with a 20-21 record and coming off a 113-125 home loss against the Phoenix Suns. They don’t have any key players out with injuries, but their defence has been the biggest reason behind this season’s shortcomings.

The Warriors have ranked 22nd in defensive rating this year, allowing an average of 117.7 points per game whilst conceding an opposing 13 three-pointers each night out. Yes, they are the fastest team in the league and score a bunch of points, but their net rating drops from 6.2 (7th) when playing at Chase Center to -9.6 (28th) on the road. And guess what, the Warriors are 3-16 on the road this year, covering the spread in just 4 of those games, and ranking dead last in the NBA in that regard.

San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors Best Bet

Not much more to say about this one. The Spurs are a respectable team and they love to push the tempo, so outrunning them won’t be an option. They’ve been playing well at home recently, and they are taking on a team that has been absolutely horrible on the road.

If you’re looking for defence, you won’t find any here, with these teams allowing a combined 238.7 points per game and the bookies know it, setting the line at 241 points. That doesn’t really matter now. We have a home underdog at +8.5 points on a Friday and I’m backing them to keep biting!
