The San Antonio Spurs welcome the Sacramento Kings tonight at AT&T Center for their 3rd meet up of the season. The bookmakers expect the Kings to easily get the win tonight, but I’m looking for something different this Wednesday night. A player prop bet at 2.10 odds or 110 if you’re in the US. Enjoy!

The NBA season is past its halfway point and San Antonio Spurs have been left in the3 dust by the rest of the conference. They are sitting in 14th place in the west with just 14 wins and 37 losses this year. They are on a 6-game losing streak and coming off a 106-127 loss to the Washington Wizards at AT&T Center. Their young core is developing nicely, but Devin Vessel has missed a lot of games due to a knee injury and is expected to come back later this month.
The Spurs have been facing issues on both sides of the floor, but there have been some positives to take away. They are 3rd in the league in assists per game, 7th in field goals made and 5th in offensive rebounds. However, their efficiency is very poor from both inside and out, and the Spurs are 28th in offensive rating on the year. But it’s their defence that we will be counting on tonight to cash us a winner. I’m sorry, I meant a complete lack of defence. The Spurs are dead last in defensive rating, worst in points allowed with 122.2 per game and last in opponent 3-point percentage with 40.3%.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings are enjoying one of their best seasons in a while, and it looks like they will finally make the playoffs after a 16-year fast. They are 3rd in the Western Conference with a 28-21 record and have won 7 of their last 10 games. The Kings are coming off a 118-111 road win against the T-Wolves on Monday and are looking to continue this road trip with a routine win in San Antonio tonight.
The Kings have been successful this year, but it certainly hasn’t been their defence that’s been the main cause. The Kings are among the worst 10 defences in the NBA, so it’s a good thing their offence has been firing on all cylinders. They are ranking 2nd in offensive rating this year whilst averaging 120 points per game and 27 assists. They are shooting very well from beyond the arc, averaging almost 14 threes per game and draining 37% of their attempts. They faced the San Antonio Spurs just 2 weeks ago and won by 132-119, and I expect a similar result this time too.
The total points line is set at 244 points and the Kings are available to win at 1.32 odds with the spread at -7.5 points. I don’t really see much value in betting on either market at this point of the season, but I did notice something interesting.
The Spurs are terrible at defending the 3-pointer, and the Kings can easily get into a shooting groove from downtown. Kevin Huerter is already averaging 2.8 threes per game this season on a 40.8% percentage. He attempts around 7 threes per game and plays around 31 minutes. He didn’t really get much playing time against the Timberwolves last game, so I see this as the perfect opportunity to get his minutes up as well as get him into a shooting groove. He is already averaging almost 3 threes per game, and against a poor defensive side like the Spurs, I have no problem backing him to reach his average.
