For fans of the NH code, there are two meetings at Ffos Las and Uttoxeter (where watering has been required to keep the jar out the ground after a largely dry couple of weeks).

Andrew Balding has hit top form in the last fortnight with 10 winners and a strike rate nudging 20pc, and this raw filly improved markedly for the switch to handicaps 20 days ago at Newbury. She came from last to first there despite market unease, showing plenty of ability amidst clear signs of inexperience, and there remains plenty more scope to improve from just a 3lb higher mark at Leicester on Thursday.

Jamie Osborne’s handicapper looked ill at ease on the track when well backed at Lingfield last time out, hanging his chance away having travelled like one ahead of his mark. He has plenty of upside on the turf after just four career starts away from the all-weather, and this class 6 contest looks a very good opening if he proves more straightforward off the bridle at this flat galloping track (with the hood and blinkers on).
