The UFC is back this weekend with another excellent card. 14 bouts, 2 title fights and more than enough big names. Glover Teixeira will try the Light-Heavyweight title against the up-and-coming Jiri Prochazka, and I’ve already got my Best Bet & Fight Analysis ready and waiting.

UFC 275 Best Bet:

  • Glover Teixeira vs Jiri Prochazka:  Glover Teixeira to Win

Odds as at 12:15 pm June 9th 2022. Odds may now differ.

Glover Teixeira vs Jiri Prochazka Best Bet

The defending Light-Heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira makes his way back to the octagon hoping to make his first-ever title defence after winning it last summer against Jan Blachowicz. Let’s not forget that Glover already made an attempt at the title way back in 2014, but unfortunately lost to the GOAT f the division Jon ‘Bones’ Jones. Now, the 42-year old Brazillian-American is at the top of the heap and I’m backing him to stay there tonight? But he’s the heavy underdog at 2.72 odds? ‘But surely the bookmakers can’t be that incorrect?’ Well, they are, and don’t call me Shirley.

According to Unibet, 77% of bettors are picking Prochazka to come out on top in this fight. Don’t forget, this is just his 3rd UFC fight and he’s already getting a shot at the title, making this his first-ever 5-round MMA bout. I will admit, I’m a huge fan of Jiri Prochazka and the excitement he has brought to the division, but there are some things I can’t overlook. His fighting style, however entertaining is very reckless.

He exposes his head far too often and was rocked in both of his fights against Oezdemir and Reyes. He is also not good at preventing takedowns and mostly relies on brute force to get off the ground. Not only will this not work, but chances are he will end up exposing his back on the ground just like Thiago Santos and Jan Blachowicz and end up getting choked out. You can back this outcome at 3.60 odds at Bet365.

But I’m casting my net a little wider this time and going for a straight-up Teixeira win. If you’re a regular at bettingexpert, you know we love our dogs, and they give us back tons of value. Glover was the heavy dog against Blachowicz, available at a whopping 3.35 odds to win, and he easily got the job done! He does have 3 career KO/TKO losses, but at 42 years of age and 40 MMA fights, that’s not a cause for concern. He hasn’t been put away since 2017 when he faced  Alex ‘The Mauler’ Gustaffson, and he has been very durable ever since. Even when he does get rocked, Teixeira uses his elite grappling and experience to protect his head and buy enough time to recover.

But it’s not like Prochazka hasn’t had his share of KO/TKO losses. He is just 29 years old and already has 1 KO and 1 TKO loss under his belt. Whilst this doesn’t mean he has a glass chin, it shows us that he doesn’t have as huge an advantage in the stand-up as everyone likes to think. So, let’s take a look at what we have on the table now. An experienced, powerful, durable fighter with elite grappling and submission capabilities against a young, reckless but entertaining fighter with immense power. I made the mistake of betting against the champ last time around, and I’m not doing it again.

  • Selection: Glover Teixeira to Win
  • Best Odds: 2.72
  • Stakes: 5/10
