Getafe vs Real Madrid Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
The La Liga title race has yet to be decided and so our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Getafe vs Real Madrid Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Real Madrid’s last gasp winner against Athletic Bilbao just about kept them in the title race. Federico Valverde’s incredible strike in the 93rd minute kept them four points behind Barcelona with six games remaining.
Getafe are in a similar situation to their next opponents. Four points behind Celta Vigo in 8th, the hosts will still be dreaming of a European place next season – but they can’t afford any more slip ups along the way.
Getafe vs Real Madrid Prediction: Another narrow victory on the cards
Spain, La Liga, Wednesday, April 23rd, 20:30 (UK)
Real Madrid fans would have been devastated to see Celta Vigo fail to hold on to their 3-1 lead against Barcelona last weekend. They need a favour from someone – but they still need to keep winning their games if they are to retain their crown.
Athletic Bilbao almost put an end to those dreams, holding Carlo Ancelotti’s side until the final few seconds, where Valverde scored arguably one of the best goals of the season – is that a key point in the title race? The Neutral’s will like to think it might be with six games left.
But that has what it has been like for Real Madrid as they edge towards the end of the season. Narrow victories – just doing enough – evident in their 1-0 wins against both Bilbao and Alaves of late.
And facing teams still fighting for their own dreams makes life even more difficult for Real Madrid at present – and their midweek trip to Getafe is no different. Sitting four points off a European spot, they won’t make life easy for their next guests.
However, with three defeats from their last five – including a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Espanyol on Friday night – that dream looks unlikely to come true at this stage.
To make matters worse, the hosts will be without Christantus Uche, who picked up his second red card of the season.
And while one team is set to miss a key figure, the other welcomes one back. Kylian Mbappe was only – quite controversially – suspended for one match and the Frenchman will be available for selection sooner than most would have anticipated. A boost, of course, for Ancelotti, who struggled to break Bilbao and Alaves down without him.
But just because Mbappe is back doesn’t mean Real Madrid will score goals for fun. In their last five matches, Real Madrid have failed to score more than one goal in a game. In the league, it’s now back-to-back 1-0 wins as they look to keep Barcelona in their sights.
A trip to Getafe hasn’t often seen many goals. Four of their last five visits have produced under 2.5 goals – while all five have seen BTTS NO land. In the reverse fixture, Real Madrid came out on top 2-0 – but required a Jude Bellingham penalty to break through Getafe’s defence.
The title, of course, is a priority, but Real Madrid face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final a little over 72 hours after this fixture. If they get their noses in front, and Ancelotti feels comfortable, key players may be pulled in the second half as they manage the game and claim the three points.

Getafe vs Real Madrid Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups
Getafe will be without defender Allan Nyom who’s picked up a muscle injury, while Diego Rico is suspended after his red card against Las Palmas. Christantus Uche is also suspended after being sent off against Espanyol last weekend.
The hosts will be hoping Mauro Arambarri will be able to score his 10th league goal of the season, having last scored in their 4-0 win against Valladolid.
Real Madrid welcome back Kylian Mbappe after his suspension for receiving a red card against Alaves. Carlo Ancelotti is likely to bring him back into the starting XI alongside usual suspects Vincius Junior and Rodrygo.
The Real Madrid head coach will be leaving the club at the end of the season, but will no doubt want to sign off the season with at least one more trophy to his name.
Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Sanchez, Alderete, Duarte, Djene, da Costa, Arambarri, Milla, Terrats, Rodriguez, Yildirim
Real Madrid possible starting lineup:
Courtois; Alaba, Rudiger, Asencio, Valverde, Bellingham, Camavinga, Modric, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, Diaz
