The late change of opponents for the UFC on ESPN 71 main event resulted in Tatsuro Taira getting a new fighter to face. In steps, Hun Sung Park, a Korean fighter who made his way to the UFC through the Road to UFC. He will have less than a week to prepare, but Peace of Mind doesn’t want to waste an opportunity presented to him and will try to upset Taira.
This is going to be the third straight main event fight for Taira. Unfortunately, in his last bout against Brandon Royval, he suffered his first career loss. He is 16-1, with six out ot those wins coming in the UFC. His finishing rate is tremendous as he has two KOs and two submissions, showing how versatile a fighter he actually is. Nevertheless, Royval was actually more than Taira could chew, and even though he wasn’t finished, he still lost by a unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Hyun Sung Park is still undefeated, and he holds a 10-0 record. Ha has had three fights in the UFC, with all of them ending with a finish. He submitted Carlos Hernandez and Seung Guk Choi, but actually knocked out Shannon Ross. This is Park’s first main event and he wants to make the most of it, signaling to the UFC that he deserves much more if he wins.
This is a fight between two of the most talented Asian fighters. Both are versatile and possess excellent skills both on the ground and feet. Hyun Sung Park has actually gone to a decision only once, which was in his first-ever professional bout. All of the rest were finishes, meaning that he likes to start things aggressively. Being that he has not had enough time to prepare, he will surely try to attack Taira from the opening bell.
A change of opponent is not something that Taira will take so easily. He was able to dispatch meagre opposition wih ease so far. But the previous loss might still be lingering in his head. So I reckon, Park could surprise him, and I am going for the underdog this time, with Peace of Mind getting a stoppage win.
