Ah yes, yet another choke. Pedro Cachin led 6-3, and was serving for the match in the second set at 5-4. Naturally, he lost the match in three sets.

Not sure when this incredibly tilted ratio of blown leads to comeback wins will turn, but I can only trust in the process.

For Thursday, I want to take a look at the match between Alejandro Tabilo and Andrea Vavassori.

Alejandro Tabilo vs Andrea Vavassori Preview

The strong run of Tabilo has continued this week in Paris, as the world No. 152 is just one win from earning his way into the main draw of the French Open.

After reaching the final of the Florianopolis Challenger about a month ago and following that up by winning the Francavilla Challenger without dropping a set, the Chilean has used his strong service game, natural ability on clay courts and strong ball striking to reach the final stage of qualifying here as well.

It’s been a tough run, having to oust a talented young Luca Nardi and then an in-form, big-serving Borna Gojo, he’ll take on the unconventional style of Andrea Vavassori next.

His Italian counterpart in this match is also a fairly strong server and also mixes in a steady dose of serving and volleying – a tactic that isn’t used often on clay courts.

Much like his last match against Gojo, Tabilo is just the more well-rounded player for me in this one.

Vavassori doesn’t have the strongest backhand, isn’t the most adept on return and doesn’t cover the court as well.

I have Tabilo priced closer to 1.61 in this one against Vavassori.

Vavassori is having one of his better years in 2023, but this matchup isn’t one that works particularly well for him against someone who can match his hitting and does other things a bit better than him.

I’ll take Tabilo to make his way into the main draw – a place he may be able to do some damage should he get a favourable draw.
