Aliaksandra Sasnovich will face the 2-seed at the Budapest Grand Prix in the first round on Monday, and Viktoriya Tomova will be favored to advance past her Belarusian opponent.
Sasnovich has been filled with struggle in the 2024 campaign, and after a down 2023 season, she has fallen to 124th in the WTA Rankings. After an early exit at Wimbledon, Sasnovich can be bought at +175 to get past Tomova on Monday but all of the pressure is on Tomova.
Instead of buying into the Bulgarian’s stiff price at -200, EJ Garr’s Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Viktoriya Tomova prediction features odds at +125 on the favorite to ease past Sasnovich so check it out below.

We are not playing around with Sasnovich today because I have zero faith that she can hang around with Tomova in the first round of this WTA125 event in the Hungarian Capital.
Sasnovich looked terrible at Wimbledon losing to 196-ranked Lea Boskovic in her second match of the Major tourney, and Tomova is the 2-seed in this event and expected to make a deep run in Budapest.
I don’t know why Bet365 is giving away Tomova at +125 to take out Sasnovich in straight sets but we are going to take full advantage of that offer right now!
Tomova’s handicap is -3.5 games, and that was my first thought as a play for this match but the more I thought about it, the higher the expectation I have for the Bulgarian to roll over Sasnovich. Why pay the -110 and hope Tomova covers a game count when she can easily take both sets and plow into the second round?
Tomova didn’t exactly enjoy her trip to London either, getting bounded out of her first match at Wimbledon against Xin Wang as a +140 underdog. We all know that the grass isn’t Tomova’s strong suit, so she is likely glad to be back on a surface she feels confident on like the clay.
Last season, Tomova won two titles on clay, and the 29-year-old just made a run to the Valencia finals before the brief run on grass.
As I said, I have Tomova and the 2 – 0 Correct Sets prop at +125 to earn the straight-sets win and get past Sasnonich without issue.
Sasnovich made a decent run in Rome winning four outings before that run came to an end against of all people Angie Kerber?!
I am sorry, but anyone who loses to Angie Kerber at this point in her career has to take a good look at their future, and yes, that includes Kudermetova!!
Sasnovich was 4 – 3 on grass and has a 7 – 6 record on the dirt in 2024.
It has been 11 years since she has won any tournament at any level, and her time is running out on the 30-year-old to pick up her game to change that.
Tomova is 11 – 8 on the clay this year and that follows up an impressive 2023 season on the dirt when she was 20 – 10.
Viktoriya just reached the Valencia final, and despite being the 2-seed on the bottom bracket of this event, Tomova is +1800 in the 8th position of the futures board to win this tournament.
Sasnovich and Tomova have yet to meet on the WTA Tour making this the first battle between them on any surface.
Ranked 48th on the WTA Tour, Sasnovich only has one win against a player in the top 50 this season.
