Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: ATP Challenger Valencia, Riccardo Bonadio vs Oleksii Krutykh
Riccardo Bonadio vs Oleksii Krutykh Best Bet: Tuesday, November 22nd
Raphael Collignon managed to keep the second set close, but only getting nine games from the opener doomed Monday’s selection.
For Tuesday, it’s over to the clay courts of Valencia, Spain and the match featuring Riccardo Bonadio and Oleksii Krutykh.

Riccardo Bonadio vs Oleksii Krutykh Preview
November 22nd, 9:00 UK Time
It’s been a relatively strong 2022 season for the 22-year-old from Ukraine, as this year has served as his first playing full time on the Challenger Tour circuit.
He found some success in the early goings, and even won a clay-court event in late August, but there have certainly been some growing pains – especially of late, with Krutykh struggling for form in the latter stages of the season.
Since winning that title in Prague (though it should be said, it was far from a tough road to hoist the trophy), Krutykh has won a total of three matches, with two of those coming in qualifying draws. It should be said that he’s now back on his preferred clay, but several events in the past few months saw him exit in his first match, even on this surface.
His game just doesn’t inspire a whole lot of confidence in terms of attacking ability, and he’s a bit too reliant on consistency and errors from his opposition for my liking. His first serve can find a few free points, but isn’t overpowering by any means, and his first forehand – a groundstroke generally used to seize control and set up points by the server – allows his opponents to stick around in points far too often.
Taking on Bonadio, he won’t get the slew of unforced errors he’ll be looking for either. Bonadio’s game is also predicated on consistent play, but he’s savvy at moving the ball around the court well, and then flattening out his shots to take time away from his opposition when he sees an opportunity to pounce.
Bonadio’s one-handed backhand is also very fun to watch when he’s taking on someone without the power to rush him on that wing and force mistakes. With Krutykh not possessing the requisite power to do so, it’s a strong matchup for the Italian.
Riccardo Bonadio vs Oleksii Krutykh Best Bet
I’m happy to back Bonadio in this position, seeing as he’s the more talented player, can attack a bit more than his opponent and is more experienced at this level.
The pricing is most likely in this toss up range because the first match between these two was decided in a very close third set (the Italian triumphed 7-5 in the third in that one). I’m not sure one close match should afford Krutykh the kind of respect we’re seeing in this instance, however.
His form certainly doesn’t warrant him being rated as highly as Bonadio and his game doesn’t quite stand up to the veteran’s either.
