Caroline Dolehide and Amanda Anisimova meet for the second time this week but this battle will be in Canada at the National Bank Open in Toronto. EJ Garr’s Caroline Dolehide vs Amanda Anisimova prediction features odds at +150 on the potential upset and a lengthy match so check out the tips below.

The Americans squared off in Washington DC on August 2, and Dolehide slugged out a quarterfinal straight-sets win to reach the semis.

Anisimova is still getting used to life on the WTA Tour after missing three months earlier this season but she will be listed as the favorite at -145 against her compatriot today.

Caroline Dolehide vs Amanda Anisimova Prediction: Americans Square Off Up North

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +150
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time on August 6, 2024.

Let me start by saying it is good to see Amanda Anisimova feeling better about herself again. It is well-documented that Amanda took time away from the sport for a spell because of the grueling schedule and demands.

Anisimova was ranked 23rd in the world in 2022, and the American ripped off a career-best 33 – 14  record before the mental side of the game became too big to deal with. Taking up art is how Anisimova got through the last two years but from what I can tell, Amanda is in a good headspace again. Tennis is 50% physical and 90% mental you know!

Caroline ran into a hot Anisimova at Washington this past week, and the +175 underdog provided the upset while Dolehide will be the underdog again today. The offer has come down to +125 toward a potential upset and the line setters are still convinced that Anismova will win this first-round clash in the Ontario Capital.

I expect Anisimova to rebound and take a set in this match so I have no problem proposing a lean on the Over 2.5 sets prop at +150. I usually have a good feel for matches to go the distance but I like Dolehide to be the woman advancing to the second round in Toronto.

At +125, Dolehide will upset Anismova for the second time in a week and the win will level the series between them at 2 – 2. It won’t come easily so expect a 3-set battle in Toronto as we cash the Over 2.5 Sete prop at +150.

CAROLINE DOLEHIDE RECENT FORM

Caroline Dolehide carries confidence from beating Anisimova five days ago in Washington, DC in the quarterfinals, although her tournament ended in the semifinals.

Dolehide enters Toronto ranked 46th in the world but this season has been full of disappointments. Holding on to a top-50 ranking could depend on something special in this tournament, as Caorline is 13 – 19 in 2024.

That is a far cry from the 45 – 24 that got her into the top 50 to begin with, so the results better start coming soon.

AMANDA ANISIMOVA RECENT FORM

Now that Amanda has put the paintbrush down, the assignment of staying happy on tour becomes the battle. Amanda missed three months after the Australian Open but the last four months have been filled with tennis.

Anisimova is 12 – 9 from 21 matches played this campaign but she has an 8 – 3 record on hardcourts including three wins at the Aussie Major back in January.

Amanda is only ranked 132nd in the world due to missed time and lackluster results since returning to the tour.

DOLEHIDE VS ANISIMOVA H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Anisimova was 2 – 0 against Dolehide before their recent meeting at the American Capital a few days ago.

The first meeting was at Indian Wells in 2018, and Anisimova earned a straight-sets win at 3 & 3. The pair met again at an exhibition match during the Pandemic 2020 season which Anisimova won in three sets.

Dolehide won the match in Washington DC last week in straight sets, 7 – 6, 6 – 1.
