Caroline Dolehide will face Varvara Gracheva in the second round of the ATX Open on Thursday evening in Austin, Texas.
The line setters have issued a coin-flip decision toward the winner of this clash, and that’s why we have our WTA Expert here to sort it all out.
EJ Garr’s prediction for Caroline Dolehide vs. Varvara Gracheva has odds of +100, which can be found below.

Caroline Dolehide and Varvara Gracheva advanced to the second round in completely different fashions.
The American was a -120 favorite against Anastasia Zakharova but needed three sets to advance past the qualifier.
Le Mademoiselle provided the first big upset of the tournament as a +230 underdog in the first round of this WTA250-level event. Gracheva pounded the 3-seed Peyton Stearns out of the event carrying that momentum into today’s match.
Peyton Stearns couldn’t intimidate anyone and is having a miserable beginning of the season. When the American was listed as a -250 favorite to beat Gracheva, I thought it was hysterical, although it wasn’t because the France native is on top of her game either.
Gracheva only put 50% of her first serves in play against Stearns but broke the American five times while she committed six double faults.
Dolehide has played four straight matches that have gone the distance including test #1 here in Austin. I am not putting the prop on the board today, but I foresee the American in the quarterfinals so that’s where my coin lands.
Despite a 3 – 3 record for Dolehide, all three losses are against top-50-ranked opponents. Playing opponents ranked 40+ spots above you provides a challenge that Dolehide hasn’t answered yet, but Gracheva is ranked 72nd which is no separation between them.
If the line setters want to give me even odds on Dolehide to defeat Gracheva, give me the American to advance to the quarters.
Caroline Dolehide went 1 – 1 at the Australian Open to open the 2025 campaign with a win against Sara Bejlek and a loss to Elina Svitolina.
Dolehide lost to Anna Kalinskaya 11 days later in Singapore, and the 26-year-old American went 1 – 1 in Cluj before her first-round win in Austin.
The American went 20 – 27 in 2024 and recorded a losing record on all three surfaces going 14 – 18 on hard courts.
Varvara Gracheva opened the season with a loss to Magda Linette at Hobart before going 1 – 1 at the Australian Open. The win over Caty McNally doesn’t impress anyone.
Gracheva is ranked 72nd on the WTA Tour and is 3 – 4 in 2025. The win over Anna Schmiedlova in Doha is also less than inspiring.
The 24-year-old went 29 – 28 in 2024 and produced an 18 – 16 record on hard courts.
Dolehide and Gracheva met in qualifying at Auckland in 2022, and the French native earned a three-set win.
The winner of this match will face Suzan Lamens or Greet Minnen in the quarterfinals of the ATX Open.
