Wildcard entrant Emma Raducanu earned her first win on grass in nearly two years after her first-round victory at Nottingham over qualifier Ena Shibahara. Ej’s Emma Raducanu vs Daria Snigur prediction features odds at -116 which can be found below.

The Brit is heavily favored to progress past Daria Snigur on Thursday, although the Ukrainian native was a big underdog against Kostyuk in the first round, and we know how that worked out.

Raducanu felt she was in two battles in her first round affair battling her opponent and the umpire throughout the day. She was quoted after the match with some unkind words for the chair but kept her composure to advance in Nottingham.

Emma Raducanu had some unkind words about Chair Umpire Ana Carvalho during her first-round match against Ena Shibahara. The Brit was quoted after her first-round win saying she felt she was battling two opponents, as there is no electronic device to call close balls in Nottingham.

Raducanu was also quoted after the match stating that she would have won nearly 5 challenges on balls that weren’t called in her favor. Emma still went to a 1 & 4 straight-sets win, so whatever obstacles she faced were dealt with and now it’s time to move on. There have been a lot of complaints about refereeing in Nottingham, and Harriet Dart might not be one to ask about it either! HA!

Diana Snigur looked ready for a fight against her fellow Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk in the first round in Nottingham as a +250 underdog to boot. The line setters weren’t impressed with Singur’s early exit against Liz Mandlik in her first grass match of the campaign at Surbiton. Mandlik is ranked 150th on tour to Snigur’s 127th, and we know why Raducanu still sits outside the top 200.

That is more reason why rankings don’t tell a story because it’s tennis, and anyone inside the top 150 can catch a magic afternoon and beat someone in the top 25.

Emma Raducanu knows plenty about that so let’s not forget she was ranked 345th in the world before that insane run to the 2021 U.S Open title that included a shot up to 19th in the WTA rankings.

We all wait to see if Emma can get to that 2021 form because of injuries that have kept her off the court too often.

My Raducanu vs Snigur prediction is for Snigur to cover the +5 games handicap.

EMMA RADUCANU RECENT FORM

Emma Raducanu only played in 10 matches in 2023, and she didn’t even make it to Wimbledon nor compete during the grass season due to injuries last year.

Being in the UK for an event is great, but the grass courts haven’t proven successful for Emma in her young career. The 21-year-old Brit is 11 – 11 on grass in her career, and this is only her fifth match on this surface in three years.

DARIA SNIGUR RECENT FORM

Diana Snigur has four titles to her credit in the last two campaigns, and then there is this one little piece of hardware she won in 2019. Do you remember the run at Wimbledon when she went 6 – 0 in her only grass tournament that season en route to a win at a Major?

Snigur has a 21 – 12 record on grass and is only 22 years old amid a great season at 23 – 9 overall.

RADUCANU VS SNIGUR H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH:

Emma and Daria will be competing against each other for the first time today in Nottingham.
