An absolutely dominant start from Richard Gasquet, who cruised through the first set, only to utterly collapse in the second to wipe out both bets. We’re used to the chokes, and since the opposite almost never happens, we’re numb to it by now!
Onto Thursday, where the other half of the men’s draw will play their opening-round matches.

It’s nice to see Marozsan emerge from the qualifying field to take his place in an ATP Tour main draw.
The talent and comfort on clay are certainly there, and when he isn’t hurt, he’s been able to do some damage at the Challenger Tour level.
Currently right around his career-high ranking, the 23-year-old had struggled entering the qualifying event in Rome, but did manage to win a title in Turkey on clay at a Challenger event earlier in the season, and backed that up with a semifinal appearance on home soil in Szekesfehervar, Hungary.
While he has the natural comfort on the surface, his height also allows him to rack up more cheap points behind his first serve than most.
That’s key, seeing as Moutet doesn’t possess as large of a first delivery, and is much more reliant on spin.
The fact he’s playing just his first match since January, however, has me concerned about his readiness for this one. He didn’t look good in said match last fortnight in Madrid, and I’m not certain he’s ready to put up the performance that is likely required to topple the rounding-into-form Marozsan here either.

While the market has certainly taken a precautionary approach here to Moutet in just his second match back from a prolonged absence due to injury, I don’t know if they’ve also factored in Marozsan’s quality into this price point.
Considering how far behind the Frenchman looked in his first match back against a hard courter in Yosuke Watanuki, and Maroszan being much better on clay, I have the Hungarian as the significant favourite here.
Throw in the fact that the weather is going to ensure the courts are damp and the balls playing really heavy all week with the projected forecast, and I have trouble believing someone coming off a wrist injury is well suited to success here.
I’m going to back Marozsan here, and think he should be much closer to 1.50 than the 1.68 we have on offer.
