Our final preview for the tennis on Wednesday from the BNP Paribas Open comes from the WTA draw during the evening session. Yuan’s win probability is just 41% while Kasatkina is favored to win at 1.62 odds. The handicap is 2.5 games and the total games line is 21. Our Kasatkina vs Yuan prediction at 1.99 odds is available in the article below.

It’s Daria Kasatkina vs Yue Yuan in a stylistic contrast that pits a top player against one of the more in-form players on the women’s circuit.

Kasatkina vs Yuan Prediction: Yuan’s Run of Form to End Wednesday

  • Prediction: Kasatkina -3 games
  • Best Odds: 1.99
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 4/10

Odds as at 3:00 am UK Time on March 13th, 2024. Odds may now differ.

I’ll go back to the well one last time opposing Yuan. I still don’t believe in her game in slower conditions, considering how flat she hits the ball, how inconsistent her game can be, and the fact that her wins this week have come against some fairly volatile players.

Kasatkina is the polar opposite of volatile, playing an incredibly consistent, if underpowered, game. She certainly won’t provide the same number of unforced errors as players like Varvara Gracheva or Qinwen Zheng, and has a style more sustainable in the slower conditions on offer in Indian Wells – especially in the evening, when things get even slower as the sun sets.

Daria Kasatkina Recent Form

We’re in the first two weeks of March and Kasatkina is already approaching 20 matches played for the season. After a strong showing in Abu Dhabi where she reached the final, she had a few hiccups in Doha and Dubai, losing her first match in each of those events. This week has done wonders for her already, as she’s won consecutive matches for the first time since that Abu Dhabi run, avenging her loss to Sloane Stephens from the Australian Open along the way.

Kasatkina also made the final in Adelaide and a quarterfinal in Brisbane. The competition she’s faced (and beaten) has also been a tad better than that Yuan has seen so far in 2024.

While her serve may be vulnerable, her consistency-based game should be enough to help her elicit plenty of unforced errors from Yuan, especially considering how tough it can be to hit winners in these conditions to offset the mistakes.

Yue Yuan Recent Form

With her three wins in Indian Wells, the win streak for the 25-year-old has been extended to eight matches.

Now, outside of Zheng, she lacks any real strong wins and needed a comeback from 1-6 down and a third-set tiebreak in the last round against Caroline Dolehide.

Her style isn’t the most conducive to success in these conditions and this is a step up in competition.

Yuan’s game has also proved to be rather hit-or-miss this season, meaning she’s prone to potentially losing the range on her shots at any moment (take that first set against Dolehide).

Daria Kasatkina vs Yue Yuan H2H – Stat of the Match

No prior meetings between these two. Yuan has been playing primarily at the lower 250 level and in qualifying at bigger events, while Kasatkina has been among the world’s top 15 or top 20 players for the last several years.

It’s not entirely surprising for that reason that these two haven’t crossed each other’s paths.
