Our first preview of the day comes from the ATP Challenger circuit with the men off for the day at Wimbledon, as the women’s semifinals take center stage.

Let’s head to the Sparkasse Salzburg Open and delve into the Kyrian Jacquet vs Sandro Kopp match.

Kopp’s win probability is just above 33%, while Jacquet is favored to win at 1.42 odds. The handicap is 3.5 games and the total games line is 21.5.

Our Jacquet vs Kopp prediction is for Jacquet to cruise into the quarterfinals.

Kyrian Jacquet vs Sandro Kopp Prediction: Jacquet Too Strong for Home Country Underdog

  • Predictions: Jacquet -3.5 Games & Jacquet -4 Games
  • Best Odds: 1.81 & 1.99
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 2/10 & 2/10

Odds updated at 1:00 am UK Time on July 11th, 2024.

There is simply no way this handicap should be any lower than 4.5 games for me. Salzburg tends to be on the quicker side of things conditions-wise for clay courts, but not enough to close this gap to 3.5 or 4 games between these two.

Kopp may be nearing the top 300 for the first time, but Jacquet is one of the stronger players he’ll see on this tour. For that reason, his form isn’t indicative of a guy who’s on a tear either and getting respect in the betting markets.

I’ll go ahead and scoop up some -3.5 and -4 here and create a -3.75 like Asian handicap.

Kyrian Jacquet Recent Form

It hasn’t been Jacquet’s best year, with injuries forcing a kind of stop-and-start pattern to play.

He is a very talented player for this caliber of the tournament though. I think he’s a candidate to make the top 100 or top 150 in the coming seasons if he can find a decent run of sustained play and injuries don’t keep him sidelined.

Once down as a weaponless defensive player in my notes, I’m impressed with how well the Frenchman has rounded out his game. He could still use more power, but he’s certainly more aggressive and less attackable on serve than it once was.

Last month he made the quarters and semis in Prostejov and Lyon at Challengers and he’s got a great chance to make his third quarterfinal of the season (all since the start of June) with a win in this one.

Perhaps this is the start of a run for the 23-year-old pro from Lyon.

Sandro Kopp Recent Form

Though he may be at a career-high in terms of ranking at the moment and playing more Challenger Tour events – which would signify at least some improvement – Kopp is still far off being someone I put in the same conversation as his French counterpart on Thursday.

We’ve seen him struggle to gain much traction at this level. He had one quarterfinal run earlier in the year, but other than that, he hasn’t been competitive against strong Challenger players (a group that Jacquet undoubtedly falls into) and has lost a fair share of three-setters to those who are journeymen or still young and unpolished.

I’m aware Salzburg’s clay plays quicker than many other venues and this may help Kopp close the gap a bit, but I’m still not sure how

Kyrian Jacquet vs Sandro Kopp H2H – Stat of the Match

These two have yet to play and it’s not a surprise. Kopp rarely plays more than a match or two in Challenger draws and Jacquet doesn’t play down on the ITF Tour where Kopp tends to play a good chunk of his matches.
