Lulu Sun vs Donna Vekic Prediction, Picks, Odds, H2H, Stats - 7/9/24

Eight Ladies remain in the fight for a Major trophy, and Lulu Sun will face Donna Vekic in one of the four quarterfinal affairs at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
It has been an exciting two weeks at the Wimbledon Championships, as the top three seeds have been upset and the underdogs have provided an unlikely final 8 with a chance to hoist the hardware.
Lulu Sun has been an underdog in all four of her Main draw affairs, as she alone has provided four upsets at Wimbledon including a win over 8-seed Qinwen Zheng in the first round.
Donna Vekic lands the role of the favorite with odds nearing -275, as she attempts to reach her first Major semifinal appearance.
EJ Garr’s Lulu Sun vs Donna Vekic prediction features odds at -108 for this quarterfinal affair on Tuesday, and you can find it below.

Did someone say, underdog? This tournament has been one of the best I have seen transpire in years because of the upsets and great play from some ladies we might not have expected to see here.
I am guilty as charged because I had Putintseva yesterday, as she finally did pick up her first loss on grass, and then Wang looked terrible against Svitolina losing at 2 & 1.
So, once again I am counting on an underdog to come through, and Lulu has been playing this role since her last qualifying match. After upsetting Zheng as a big +450 dog in the first round, Sun was a dog against Yulia Starodubtseva and Lin Zhu but here she is in the quarters.
Sun is making some big history at Wimbledon being the first New Zealander in the Open Era playing in the quarterfinals on the grass in London.
There will be a lot of doubters that Sun can take out Vekic outright and advance to the semifinals but I am not convinced it will come so easily..
Donna Vekic doesn’t know what it feels like to be in this position, so we have two ladies full of confidence, concern, hope, and nerves combined. I am sure I missed a few more emotions they are dealing with at a Major event with so much at stake, not to mention the cash for each step!
I have Lulu Sun to hang around and give Vekic all she can handle, and at +4 with -108 odds, I can handle the marginal juice.
LULU SUN RECENT FORM
Lulu is 8 – 2 on the grass this season, and no one can explain where this level of improvement came from. Sun jumped up to 123rd in the rankings as she takes on 37th-ranked Vekic today, and the New Zealander could get closer to breaking into the top 100 with another win… or two if not a third win this week for the title? Imagine?
Sun is 34 – 14 overall this season, so it is not like she hasn’t earned her stripes despite playing in mostly ITF and Challenger events with two titles to show for the effort.
DONNA VEKIC RECENT FORM
Donna Vekic has never seen the semifinals of any Major Tournament, as she is 0 for 2 previous attempts at this stage of her career.
The Croatian native has played four matches at Wimbledon and three of those affairs have gone the distance. Yastremska and Vekic played back-to-back tie-break sets in their third-round battle, and she was the underdog at +110 against Paula Bodosa in her fourth-round win.
Vekic has a record of 54 – 34 on the grass and one title she earned at Nottingham in 2017.
SUN VS VEKIC HTH – STAT OF THE MATCH
Lulu Sun and Donna Vekic meet for the first time today at Wimbledon, and the pressure will be felt today.
One of these ladies will advance to their first career appearance in a Major semifinal with a win on Court 1 today.
Their opponent in the semifinals will be either Jasmine Paolino or Emma Navarro, so check for my prediction on that quarterfinal affair!
