It’s an all-Polska finale at the Prague Open as Magda Linette and Magdalena Frech will battle it out for the trophy in the Czech Republic.
The latter provided a stunning upset over the favorite to win the Prague Open title Linda Noskova, and Frech will be a slight underdog against her Polish compatriot Magda Linette.
As predicted by our resident WTA expert EJ Garr, Magda Linette and Laura Samson were deep into the third set of the semifinal but unfortunately, Samson was unable to finish the match
The line is relative even for the Magda Linette vs Magdalena Frech match, and Ej’s prediction features odds at +129 with expectations of a lengthy battle for the Prague Open hardware!

Magda Linette wanted to make this all-Polska final and you could see it right out of the gate in the semifinal win over Noskova. After Magda Frech sidestepped into the final, not that she wasn’t about to earn her way there, the +250 underdog took the first set, 6 – 3, and then the fun began.
Noskova pushed back to take the second set and after I was concerned about Linetts’s serve that third set didn’t see a break until 4 – 3 and Magda provided it to go up 5 – 3. Noskova broke Magda right back and both held serve to force a tie-break. Magda held serve all five chances in the extra time while breaking Noskova twice and that’s how Linette landed her spot here today.
I was concerned about that serve for Linette after her quarterfinal effort, which you read yesterday but she put that to rest.
Magda Frech was in the pole position at 4 – 2 in the third set against Laura Samson, and after getting so excited that we had a +150 on the board when they went to the third set, I was so disappointed to see Samson walk off the court early. Voiding that ticket stinks, but we’re going the distance against today so get your bets in!
That’s right, we’re going the distance, baby! All four of Magda Frech’s matches in the Czech Republic have gone the distance, and you can expect it to finish off the Prague Open!
Magda Linette (48) is 14 – 6 this season on clay, being the best record in her WTA career. Linette’s only former double-digit win season on clay was the 10 – 7 in 2022, although she did run off a 17 – 8 record in 2012 in lower-tier events.
Linette, ironically, won the 2012 WTA60 Prague 2 that season, as she and Magda both have lower-level titles here in the Czech Republic.
Magda Frech (57) might set the record for time on the court having played all five matches in three sets after this match ends. Frech has gone the distance with all four of her opponents in Prague, and let’s talk about a confidence booster!
Let’s not forget that Frech carried a 0 – 5 record into the Czech Republic and there wasn’t a lick of confidence to find. Now in a position to win her first WTA250 event on tour, Frech can add a second title in Prague to her resume after the WTA60 ITF win in 2021.
Frech has a 76 – 55 record on clay since 2016 and is 10 – 7 this season while completing her fourth straight campaign with double-digit wins on the dirt.
Magda and Magda met once at the Saint-Malo Challenger in France in 2022, and Frech needed three sets to get past Linette in that quarterfinal affair.
