Mirra Andreeva and Elina Avanesyan have reached the final at the Iasi Open. The 17-year-old Krasnoyarsk native is a heavy favorite to win her first title on clay on the WTA Tour as Mirra Andreeva has -300 odds attached to her action to win the title in Romania.
Elina Avanesyan spent Thursday completing the quarterfinal against Jaqueline Cristian while having to take on Chloe Paguet afterward in the semifinal. Avanesyan is also chasing her first WTA tournament win outside of the four ITF-level titles on clay.
Expecting a closer match than the experts may lead you to believe, EJ Garr’s Mirra Andreeva vs Elina Avanesyan prediction features odds at -106 on a handicap offer so check out his tip for the Iasi Open final below.

Elina Avanesyan had quite a Thursday afternoon in Romania having to finish the match with Jaqueline Cristian and then having to lace them up again to compete in the semis in short order against Chloe Paquet.
With a pair of straight set victories, Avanesyan has given herself a chance to make it all worth while with a title at the Iasi Open but the line setters are essentially giving the 21-year-old Pyatigorsk native no chance to pull it off.
Listed with odds at +240 to win the title in Romania, Avanesyan entered this event ranked 76th in the world and that number will likely improve with a run to the finals in this WTA250 event/
Avanesyan has only dropped one set from four wins in Romania, and these two compatriots recently met in France at the Rouen Open in April. Andreeva eventually won that round of 8 battle but it was tight throughout and I expect this to be another close affair.
If we get anything similar to that type of clash (7 – 6, 6 – 4), our +4.5 offer on Avanesyan won’t be a tall order to fill. I am not concerned about tired legs with the 21-year-old because the 5-seed didn’t need much effort to get past Paquet in the semis after a 2 & 3 win against the Mademoiselle.
The fact that both ladies are on the verge of their first title inspires an epic final with a chance to go the distance so keep an eye on that potential.
Andreeva made an impressive run to the French Open semis but we won’t talk too much about the results on grass, HA! (0 – 2)
Mirra is 15 – 4 on clay this season and all of the expectation is on her to finish this tournament with a trophy, her first on the WTA Tour. Andreeva won two titles from a pair of WTA60 tournaments at the ITF level on clay last year and has accumulated a 55 – 13 record on the dirt from three career campaigns.
Avanesyan has claimed four titles on clay at the ITF level chasing her first on the WTA tour today in Romania.
Elina has earned a 113 – 54 record on clay over her career and is 11 – 6 this season eyeing her first title on the WTA Tour. She’ll have to recover from the two matches on Thursday but that should be a motivating factor with a trophy in sight for the work to get here.
As mentioned above, these two compatriots met in Rouen a few months ago and Adnreeva won the match in straight sets.
