Moyuka Uchijima will face Olivia Gadecki in the first round of the Singapore Open on Monday and the line setters show no favoritism toward either player.

At -110, Uchijima and Gadecki have struggled so much lately that the oddsmakers have featured an even line but our WTA expert is going in another direction.

EJ Garr’s prediction for Moyuka Uchijima vs. Olivia Gadecki features a play on the game total at -114 which you can find below.

Moyuka Uchijima vs Olivia Gadecki WTA Singapore Open Prediction: When Tennis Gets Ugly

  • Prediction: Match Total Under 22 Games
  • Best Odds: -114
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 7:00 am UK Time on January 27, 2025. Odds may now differ.

This should be a featured match in a Documentary called When Tennis Gets Ugly!

Neither Moyuka Uchijima nor Olivia Gedecki have done much to impress anyone. The Japan native is 2 – 8 in the last 10 outings and the Aussie native hasn’t won a set in three outings this year so something has got to give.

Whichever woman advances in this match is not my concern because I am pointing to the total to find the dough. The Under is the best bet for this match because 22 games is quite a bit and -114 is a fair price to test the water.

I do not see three sets coming and you all know I can usually sniff those types of matches out of the line setters. If I had to predict the winner of the game I would have to take Uchijima to get past Gadecki and sweep her off the court in straight sets.

Dating back to the completion of last season, Gadecki is 0 – 5 and hasn’t won a single set en route to five harsh defeats. Without a win since October of last year, it is hard to believe that Gadecki has a lick of confidence entering Singapore.

At +240 to win in straight sets, we might have to sprinkle the cupcakes on Uchijima to sweep Gadecki out of this WTA250 event.

The Under 22 games with the marginal juice at -114 will come in with it so that will be the posted offer for this match.

MOYUKA UCHIJIMA RECENT FORM

Moyuka Uchijima starts the week ranked 63rd on the WTA Tour and has lost three of four outings in 2025. The Japan native produced a quality 51 – 26 record last season.

Uchijima went 22 – 5 on clay last season which no one saw coming as part of five titles during the 2024 campaign.(3 on clay).

OLIVIA GADECKI RECENT FORM

Olivia Gadecki is ranked 106th on the WTA Tour and is 0 – 4 in 2025.

Gadekci cracked into the top 100 for the first time in her career last season but has slipped back after losing the last five outings dating back to last year.

UCHIJIMA VS GADECKI HTH –  STAT OF THE MATCH

Uchijima and Gadecki have met five times on the WTA Tour and each match has ended in two sets. They have yet to see three sets and I always pay attention to those little facts when I have a total in mind.

Gadecki won the first two meetings in 2022, but Uchijima won the final meeting that season.

Uchijima was 2 – 0 against the Aussie native last year.

The winner of this match will face Jil Teichmann or Harriet Dart in the second round of the Singapore Open.
