Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: ATP Barcelona, Pedro Cachin vs Gijs Brouwer

Pedro Cachin vs Gijs Brouwer Best Bet: Tuesday, April 18th
Tough week finishes with an eyebrow-raising result as Taylor Fritz thumped Stefanos Tsitsipas. It was a week that had no rhyme or reason for me, and it showed in the results.
This is all about long-term sustainability and success, however, so itâs important to stay the course and try to continue making rational, well-thought-through decisions with our bets.
With that said, a new week brings a trio of ATP tournaments, with a 500-level event in Barcelona and a pair of 250s in Munich and Banja Luka, Bosnia.
For our Tuesday selection, weâll preview the match between Pedro Cachin and Gijs Brouwer from Barcelona.

Pedro Cachin vs Gijs Brouwer Preview
April 18th, 13:00 (UK Time)
A classic example of a massive surface mismatch here as Cachin takes on Brouwer.
Even in terms of quality of competition, this feels like a match right in the Argentineâs wheelhouse. The 28-year-old made a living dominating the Challenger Tour on clay in 2022 â so much so that he was able to make the jump up to the main tour this year.
This may be a 500-level event, but Brouwer is far from a tour-level regular, especially on clay courts.
The big lefty is much more prone to success on quicker surfaces, as his movement isnât the greatest, his rally tolerance can be an issue and his power game profiles more successfully on those courts.
His clay-court record has been pretty poor the last few years, and thatâs with almost all of his play coming on quicker har-tru clay in the United States (that also feature weaker fields).
The backhand is of particular concern for him and with a lefty game, itâs a major concern for the Dutchman that he can be pinned on that wing in crosscourt exchanges by the solid forehand of Cachin.
The other thing to note here is the fact that Brouwer managed to enter this event directly with his ranking.
While Iâm not trying to imply that heâll tank, there is a case to be made that players like him who generally toil away at the Challenger level are willing to accept a more-than-likely first-round exit in order to secure the prize money that comes with it at this level.
Pedro Cachin vs Gijs Brouwer Best Bet
As for the bet itself and the staking, how much value is there in backing Cachin.
After all, he is the obvious favourite. I have him winning in straight sets and by at least a break in each more often than not. I put this true handicap at 4 to 4.5 games, and weâre seeing a -3-game handicap available in the markets.
One could make the case that coming off a long week could hamper Cachin. He did just reach the final at a Challenger in Madrid. Yet even then, the travel isnât all that impactful and Iâm not sure that is worth 1.5 games.
Iâll back Cachin here against a Brouwer who is being overvalued in this market thanks to another run in Houston in much quicker conditions than weâll see here in Barcelona.
