Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: ATP Wimbledon, Tommy Paul vs Shintaro Mochizuki

Tommy Paul vs Shintaro Mochizuki Best Bet: Tuesday, July 4th
Big win for Stan Wawrinka, as he takes out Emil Ruusuvuori, and does it in straight sets no less. We’ll take that nice profit on the large odds play and move onto the top half of the draw on Tuesday!
For the second day of first-round action, we’ll delve into the match between Tommy Paul and Shintaro Mochizuki.

Tommy Paul vs Shintaro Mochizuki Preview
Tue, July 4th, 16:00 (UK Time)
A Solid matchup for Paul to open up his campaign in southwest London. The American gets the Japanese qualifier in Mochizuki, who did impress last week at Roehampton, but should be in tough against Paul, who is in decent form himself.
Not only is Paul leaps and bounds better in terms of the level he plays at consistently, but he’s also consistent enough from the baseline to neutralise Mochizuki’s defensive style that typically looks to extract errors from his opposition.
With his game playing up on quick courts and strong runs at Queen’s Club, as well as in Eastbourne this past week, Paul should be able to control play from the baseline, find more cheap points behind his serve and have the patience to construct points and wait for his opportunity to hit through the 20-year-old’s defences.
Outside of qualifying, Mochizuki also struggled during the grass-court swing the last few weeks, losing both of his matches to decent Challenger Tour competition in straight sets.
Tommy Paul vs Shintaro Mochizuki Best Bet
Some money has come in on the Japanese since the market opened – likely due to the fact that Paul might’ve felt some discomfort in his final against Francisco Cerundolo in Eastbourne on the weekend.
I’m not sold on that injury being too serious, and considering he was playing a legitimate tour-level player and has had two days off since, I’m happy to back him to win in routine fashion against someone he matches up pretty perfectly against.
I have Paul moving through in straight sets well over 50% of the time, making this price nice value for me.
