Xiyu Wang and Rebecca Sramkova will meet in the second round of the Budapest Grand Prix on Thursday, and the 3-seed in the event will be the favorite to land in the quarterfinals.
Wang’s odds to advance are posted at -145, and the Chinese native can now concentrate on her own game after being eliminated from doubles competition on Wednesday in Hungary.
Sramkova still sits outside the top-100 in the WTA Rankings as she takes on 54th-ranked Wang but the Slovak is inching closer to finally getting over the small hurdle in her career.
EJ Garr’s Xiyu Wang vs Rebecca Sramkova prediction is intended to get everyone paid early, and his first-set prop bet can be found below at +110.

That’s right, we’re getting paid early today in Budapest because the first set of this match might go the distance. Wang and Sramkova are going to give us a sparkling first set of action in the second round at the Budapest Grand Prix, and we’re going to make good use of the +110 offer from Bet365.
Rebecca Sramkova is chasing her fourth career title on the dirt, although no one thinks the Slovakian native has a chance in Budapest to hoist the hardware. Getting past the 3-seed today would bring a boatload of confidence headed to the quarters, and Sramkova can get there. At +125, it’s not Pinnacle screaming that Rebecca has no shot to win this second-round affair against Wang but I expect this match to produce a wild first set.
Wang’s opening match in Hungary provided exactly that, as she and Anca Todoni went the distance in the first round with a 7 – 5 second set to follow. Wang was the +120 underdog against Todoni with a straight-sets win, and the two did a great job holding serve to extend that game count.
There were only two breaks in each set (One Each) in the Wang vs Tomova clash, and the same cannot be said for what Sramkova dealt with in the first-round fight with Miriam Bulgaru. There were 13 breaks of serve in Sramkova’s first-round match with Bulgaru, and the Slovak provided 7 of them.
As long as Sramkova can hold her serve early, I expect a back-and-forth opening frame that provides Over 9.5 Games, whether we see 6 – 4 or in the tie-break we might see.
Xiyu Wang has a 7 – 6 record on the dirt this year and has never produced a losing season on clay as a pro. Wang is 53 – 31 on clay over her career and holds one title on this surface from her win in 2019 at the La Bisbal D’Emporda ITF event.
Wang only made two appearances on the grass this year, and each of those encounters ended in a loss before arriving in Hungary.
Rebecca Sramkova is 13 – 7 on clay this year and holds a 24 – 14 record in 2024. The Slovak has three titles on clay at the ITF level and has claimed one hardcourt title this season from her win at the WTA50 event in Porto.
Sramkova holds a record of 107 – 69 on the clay since 2016 and was 22 – 9 last season on the dirt.
On any surface, this will be the first meeting between Xiyu Wang and Rebecca Sramkova.
The winner of this second-round affair will take on the winner of the match between Bernarda Pera and Eva Lys in the quarterfinals of the Budapest Grand Prix. I will have that match covered here today, so look out for my preview of the Pera vs Lys battle.
