Yue Yuan and Mayar Sherif square off for the second time in a month as they battle at the French Open on Tuesday from Section 8 of the bottom bracket. The two women have split a pair of wins against each other on clay in the last year, and the Egyptian native finds herself heavily favored to get past Yuan in this first-round affair. My Yuan vs Sherif prediction at -111 odds is available below!

Yue Yuan is out to shake off a 4-match losing skid, although one of her two wins on clay this year came against Sherif in Rouen. Mayar Sherif is coming off a finals appearance in Rabat, albeit an eventual loss to American Peyton Stearns.

Ej’s Yue Yuan vs Mayar Sherif prediction features odds at -111 which can be found below.

So we meet again! Yue Yuan and Mayar Sherif will get to know each other better on Tuesday as they battle for the third time in a calendar year.

Yuan and Sherif met in the quarterfinals in Croatia for the first time last June, and it was quite a battle despite being a 2-set win for the Egyptian native, 6 – 3, 7 – 6.

The two met again a month ago in Rouen as they competed in the first clay tournament of the season and Yuan paid Sherif back with a straight-sets win, 6 – 3, 7 – 6.

How strange is it to see the exact final game count with a different woman taking the dub?

The total is only listed at 20.5 for this match, and I don’t see why they can’t repeat the effort to splash that over. I am betting on the +4.5 handicap with Yuan because I expect a tight match with one of these sets going the limit, 7 – 6.

Yuan should have confidence since she knows Sherif’s strengths and weaknesses after two clashes over the last year, although her clay results leave plenty to be desired this season. Yue has been one-and-done in the previous four clay tourneys, and if it weren’t for her recent win over Sherif I might not make this bet so easily.

Clay is undoubtedly Sherif’s best surface, and I have seen some stellar tennis from her this year before the flop against Stearns in the Rabat finale. At the same token, Sherif has had quite an easy list of characters to get past as I look over her clay season.

Yuan will give her all she can handle today so grab that +4.5 handicap with that total to go over the 20.5 games.

Yue Yuan has only played six matches on clay this season, and after two wins in Rouen, she has now lost four straight outings. She was dismissed from the Rouen event by Sloane Stephens in straight sets, and Putinseva made quick of her in the only match played in Madrid, losing 2 & 4.

Yuan is 25 – 28 on clay over her career and has yet to win a title on this surface.

Sherif has won nine titles on clay in her career giving her a distinct advantage on the dirt.

She is 15 – 7 on clay this season and has never had a losing record on this surface dating back to her first full year on tour in 2013

Yue Yuan and Mayar Sherif have met twice on tour as both affairs took place on clay and each woman has a win to their credit.
