Best NFL Tipsters
So which tipsters offer the best NFL tips at bettingexpert? Year on year we find many tipsters posting profitable NFL betting tips, across a broad range of betting markets.
Are all of our tipsters posting profitable NFL predictions? No, that would be unrealistic to expect. However, what makes bettingexpert different to other betting tips sites is the ability for you, the tip follower, to discover which tipsters are truly profitable and which are not. Each tipster has their record clearly displayed, allowing you to find which tipters are posting the best NFL tips each week.
While some betting tips sites only ask their tipsters to make predictions, at bettingexpert we ask our tipsters to justify their NFL predictions, delivering a full betting preview with each NFL tip that they post.
So if a tipster believes the Seattle Seahawks are going to easily cover the spread against Pittsburgh Steelers, a full preview will accompany that prediction. If a tipster believes the New Orleans Saints and the New York Giants are going to score over 48 points in an upcoming match up, again a full preview will accompany their prediction.

The NFL is one of the most competitive sporting leagues in the world and as a result, one of the most difficult leagues to predict from season to season. While Super Bowl contenders from one season often find themselves missing the playoffs the next, teams struggling the previous season can find themselves competing for division crowns the next. It’s this parity that the NFL is most famous for and what presents a genuine challenge for bettingexpert’s community of NFL tipsters.
Last season saw the Philadelphia Eagles win their first Super Bowl title and their first NFL championship since the Norm Van Brocklin led Eagles of 1960. The Eagles currently find themselves second in favouritism for the upcoming season with the bookmakers having them listed pre-season at odds of 10.0 to go back to back. The team they defeated in last season’s finale, the New England Patriots are listed as favourites among bookmakers at odds pre-season of 7.0 to win their sixth Super Bowl trophy.
Among the other Super Bowl favourites are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. Who will win the Super Bowl this year? As usual it’s anybody’s title to win with at least a dozen teams with realistic claims on the title with no doubt one or two unexpected teams to surge and make a run at the crown.
Philadelphia are favourites to repeat as NFC Champions with the reinclusion of talented quarterback Carson Wentz who is set to return from an injury that ended his 2017 campaign. The Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings take up the next three places, with the bookmakers having a difficult time splitting the three in pre-season betting. New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco and Carolina all sit just off the pace but each with reasonable claims to be in the playoff race come January.
New England are favourites to claim yet another AFC Championship, which if successful will be their eleventh in team history and their ninth in the Brady-Belichick era. In second place the bookmakers currently have the Pittsburgh Steelers while the maturing Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars look set to contend again for the AFC crown. The Los Angeles Chargers, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos sit just off the pace in betting, in what promises to create a tight AFC West Division race in 2018.
Throughout the history of the game, there have been numerous dominant teams. In the early years of the league, it was clubs such as the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Colts. After the NFL/AFL merger and the beginning of the Super Bowl era, success was shared by many NFL franchises. The Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowls while the Pittsburgh Steelers won four Super Bowl trophies during the 1970s. The 1980's saw the dominance of Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers who won a total of four Super Bowl trophies through the decade.
The 1990's saw the 49ers continue their success with the Dallas Cowboys winning three Super Bowls and the Denver Broncos going back to back. The 2000's has seen a number of teams attain Super Bowl glory with the Tom Brady led New England Patriots being one of the most successful teams in Super History, winning four Super Bowls and while appearing in five through the decade.
Recent seasons have seen the title shared among a number of teams with New England claiming another two titles, with the Giants, Ravens, Packers, Broncos, Seahawks and Eagles all winning the Lombardi Trophy.
The first Super Bowl was played in 1967 with the Green Bay Packers claiming the first two trophies with the New York Jets causing one of the biggest upsets in football history defeating the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl 3. The NFL and AFL would merge in 1970 with the Super Bowl becoming the climax of the season and one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
There are many ways to bet on the NFL with most bookmakers offering a diverse range of NFL odds on a deep menu of betting markets. No matter what your preferred NFL odds and markets, pre-match or in-play, the most popular are betting against the spread and betting over under point totals.
NFL Tips Against The Spread
NFL spread betting is easily the most popular way to bet on the NFL and it's certainly the case in the bettingexpert community of tipsters. Also known as line or handicap betting, spread betting has been around since the 1960's and popularised largely by American football, both the NFL and College form of the game.
At bettingexpert, our community of tipsters love the challenge of betting on NFL spread markets. Will the Denver Broncos win by more than the 7.5 point handicap? Will the Chicago Bears get within the 3.5 point handicap in an upcoming match? NFL spread betting demands great insight and at bettingexpert our NFL tipsters regularly post the most detailed analysis available. If you're looking for profitable NFL tips against the spread, the NFL tips list is the place to find them.
Keys To NFL Spread Betting
There are a number of things to keep in mind when wagering on NFL betting lines.
The first of these is home field advantage. Home field advantage in the NFL is typically worth 3 points. So for example, let’s say that the Carolina Panthers are consider the equals of the New Orleans Saints on a neutral field. In this case, the Panthers would be 3 point favourites when playing at home in Charlotte and conversely the Saints would be considered 3 points favourites if the game were being played in New Orleans.
The second of these is to consider what are known as NFL key numbers. These are the margins that NFL games typically end on. Before the change to extra point kicking distance, the key numbers were 3 points and 7 points. With most NFL games landing on these margins, betting on a favourite at -6.5 points was of far greater value than betting on -7.5 points. It may seem like merely a single point, but betting either side of 7 (or 3 for that matter) can make a big difference to your success betting on NFL betting lines.
The third is to take the best odds available. Why? Because taking 1.90 when odds of 1.92 are available will make a big difference to your profit/loss at the end of the season. Consider the following:
- Odds, Win Pct, Win Pct For 5% ROI
- 1.90, 52.69%, 55.26%
- 1.91 52.36% 54.97%
- 1.92 52.08% 54.69%
- 1.93 51.81% 54.40%
- 1.94 51.55% 54.12%
- 1.95 51.29% 53.85%
As we can see here, the betting line win percentage required to earn a profit at odds of 1.90 is 52.69%, while at odds of 1.92 it is 52.08%. To illustrate the difference between taking odds of 1.90 and 1.92, let’s consider a sample size of 100 bets. If we bet at odds of 1.92 and achieve the strike rate need to make a profit at odds of 1.90, we would achieve a return of +1.16, while at odds of 1.90, we would simply break even. If we can take odds of 1.95 and bet at the same success rate of 52.69%, our profit becomes +2.75. So while the difference between odds of 1.90 and 1.92 may seem slight, over a long enough time span, it can make a significant difference to your bottom line.
NFL Over Under Tips
While NFL picks against the spread may be the most popular form of NFL betting, many of our best NFL tipsters post selections on whether or not a game will end over or under a certain number of points. This is most often referred to as Over Under betting.
For example, an upcoming game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs will have an over/under line set at 45 points. In over under betting, our community members post tips on whether or not the game will end over 45 points or under 45 points.
If you're looking for NFL betting tips on over under markets, our community of tipsters post dozens of such tips each weekend of the NFL season. No need to worry about who will win the game. When following NFL over under betting tips, you're only concern is the number of points scored.
Keys To NFL Over Under Betting
There are a number of things to keep in mind when betting on NFL over unders.
The first of these is to recognise that a team’s previous scoring record may not be the best indicator of future scoring. While points are often the result of skill, there are many instances where high scoring can be the result of good luck, for example, interceptions returned for touchdowns or punts returned for touchdowns. While this may reflect a high level of play, both are generally regarded as non-repeatable skills and considered more a matter of luck than skill. It is much better to consider statistics such as offensive yards gained and allowed as means of determine a team’s true scoring potential.
Secondly, it’s important to consider public betting tendencies. Most football fans like seeing high scoring games. Similarly the average football bettor likes to bet on high scoring games. This tendency distorts the market, providing value for those who like to go against the crowd and bet on the under. Of course, betting on the under in every NFL game won’t necessarily generate a profit, but going against the weight of money bet on the over is often a good place to start when looking to bet on NFL points totals.
Thirdly, predicting points totals is less about concerning yourself with who will likely win the game and instead considering how the game is likely to be played. In this way it can be well worth reflecting on team vs team personel matchups. Do the teams matchup well for a high scoring game, or are they more likely to play out a dour low scoring battle. Understanding the nuances of NFL tactics and strategy can go a long way to helping you predict how many points are likely to be scored in a given NFL game.
NFL Moneyline Tips
While Americans call this type of tips a 'moneyline' bet, to most of the world it is simply head to head betting. While not as popular as NFL spread betting or over unders, NFL head to head betting is a popular market to bet on. For one thing, it's the easiest form of NFL betting to understand. No concern for handicaps or point totals, all you're concerned with in NFL head to head betting is who will win the game. For this reason, NFL head to head or 'moneyline' betting remains popular.
Throughout the NFL season, our community of tipsters post hundreds of NFL head to head moneyline betting tips, with full match previews to accompany them.
NFL Playoff Predictions
Predicting which NFL teams will make the playoffs is another popular bet type among bettingexpert tipsters. NFL playoff predictions can be found all season at bettingexpert, with tipsters posting their selections and previews for division winner markets, conference winner markets and of course, the most popular NFL betting tip of them all, predicting who will win the Super Bowl.
Betting on which teams will win their respective divisions is always popular. With a total of eight divisions in the NFL, there's plenty of options, with many bookmakers failing to recognise the chances of up and coming teams while over estimating the chances of teams on the slide. At bettingexpert, you'll find NFL betting tips across all eight divisions and both the AFC and NFC.
