Everton welcome Leicester to Goodison Park in one of the standout Premier League fixtures this gameweek. The Toffees are on a good run of form but they welcome a Foxes side that thrives away from home. Both clubs have enjoyed excellent seasons and a win here will further that. The Toffees will go within three points of their opponents in the table with a win.Read more
Everton are on a good run right now. They’ve won five of their last six Premier League matches and have recaptured that impressive early-season form. The Foxes have gone from strength to strength. Brendan Rodgers’ men are unbeaten in six and secured an impressive 2-0 win over Chelsea last week.
These sides last met just a month ago. Everton won that 2-0 and Leicester haven’t lost in the Premier League since. That match showed that this fixture can go either way. Both of these sides have won six, lost six, and drawn six of the last 18 matches they’ve played over the last few decades. It points towards a tight contest.
This match sees two of the form teams in the Premier League facing off. Only Manchester City have taken more points than these two sides over the last six matches. For Everton, the big reason behind that is their defence. Carlo Ancelotti has sorted things out at the back and the Toffees have benefitted immensely. They’ve conceded an average of 0.625 goals per game in their last eight Premier League fixtures. They let in an average of 2.00 in the eight games before then.
The Foxes have sorted things out defensively as well. Brendan Rodgers’ men haven’t conceded too many goals in recent months either. Leicester have kept back-to-back clean sheets and four in their last eight Premier League matches. Only three clubs have kept more than them during the season which will certainly please the manager.
It’s the basis for their success this season. Leicester have been a difficult side to beat but they’ve done their best work on the road. They have the second-best record in the Premier League away from home. The Foxes have won seven of their nine matches away from the King Power Stadium, grabbing 20 goals in the process.
It will be interesting to see how many goals go in during this match. It may be a high-scoring one considering that Everton have the second-highest number of total match goals in their home fixtures this season. Leicester have been involved in a few high-scoring matches too. The Foxes have the third-highest number of goals in their away fixtures.
The visitors are the slight favourites to win this one. The hosts, Everton are available at 2/1 to secure the three points with a draw at 13/5. But as previously mentioned this is a fixture that really could go either way. Leicester are the marginal favourites to secure the victory at 8/5. This fixture hasn’t been drawn since 2015 so an Everton win or a Leicester win double chance is unsurprisingly low at 4/11.
If the Foxes win this match then they may well do it after the break. Only Manchester United have taken more points from the second halves of their matches than Leicester City have this season. Brendan Rodgers’ men have won the second half in 10 of their 19 matches and scored 21 goals in the process. The Foxes are 15/8 to win the second half here which seems like a good bet.
This may well be a high-scoring match. The Toffees have been involved in some of the highest-scoring fixtures in the Premier League this season. They have the second-highest average number of total match goals for their home fixtures in the top flight at 3.38. Leicester’s figure for away matches isn’t too far behind at 3.22. Over 2.5 total match goals is 10/11 and over 3.5 is 9/4.
In terms of goalscorers, James Maddison is on a fine run of form and has scored in each of his last three Premier League matches. The midfielder is a 16/5 anytime goalscorer here.
