Napoli vs Torino Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview

Napoli are in control of their destiny as they head into the final stretch of the season. But, with five games left, Torino stands as the toughest challenge remaining. Last Sunday the Partenopei defeated Monza 1-0, clinching their third victory in four games, marking their 21st win of the campaign. Our Italian football expert, Daniele Fisichella, has analysed the statistics to offer betting insights for Sunday’s evening match.

Napoli vs Torino Prediction: Another low-scoring win towards the Scudetto

Serie A, Matchday 34, Sunday 27 April, 19:45 (UK)

In a fiercely contested match against bottom of the table Monza, Napoli secured a crucial victory. Despite the disparity in quality and points, breaking through the Brianzoli’s defence proved challenging, with Scott McTominay scoring his ninth goal of the campaign to be the decisive factor. Meanwhile, Torino’s victory over Udinese featured yet another home clean sheet, with Che Adams taking his tally to nine goals this season.

Napoli have shown signs of fatigue in recent outings, but Inter’s recent slip-up might just push the Azzurri beyond their limits. Antonio Conte’s men have a strong chance to take all three points, especially in a charged atmosphere at the Maradona Stadium.

Conte’s influence will be pivotal; he’s the right man to lead in high-stakes matches like this, capable of rallying the team that boasts the best defensive record in the league. Interestingly, betting on the visitors failing to score could be worth consideration, considering Napoli have kept seven home clean sheets so far.

Goals expected to dry up for both title contenders

Our projections suggest that 82 points could suffice to clinch the title, potentially setting a record for the lowest average points per game for a Scudetto winner since Juventus’s 2.11 points per game in the 2002/03 season.

As the season progresses, expect intensely competitive games involving both Inter and Napoli. Inter’s remaining fixtures are predicted to yield a total of 12 goals (an average of 2.4 per game), while Napoli’s could produce slightly fewer, with 11 goals (an average of 2.2). Thus, considering under 2.5 goals in their final 10 matches might be a shrewd betting move.

Napoli vs Torino Team News: Former fans’ favourite set to haunt his old club?

Conte’s Napoli hopes are pinned on Politano, Lukaku, and Spinazzola leading the attack, the latter preferred over Raspadori. Lobotka will orchestrate the midfield, supported by McTominay and Anguissa. Former Torino player Buongiorno will aim to push through injury concerns, though Marin remains on standby.

The Granata travel south aiming for a significant upset, with a three-man attacking midfield featuring Karamoh, Casadei, and former Napoli player Elmas, operating just behind lone striker Adams. In the midfield, Linetty is expected to replace the suspended Gineitis. Coco returns to the defense after serving a suspension.

Napoli possible starting lineup:
Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno, Olivera; Zambo Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Spinazzola.

Torino possible starting lineup:
Milinkovic-Savic; Pedersen, Maripan, Coco, Biraghi; Linetty, Ricci; Karamoh, Casadei, Elmas; Adams.

Match Stats: Historically a tough trip for the Granata

  • Torino have failed to win in their last 12 away Serie A matches against Napoli (5 draws, 7 losses).
  • In their last eight league encounters with Torino, Napoli have secured six victories, keeping five clean sheets in the process.
  • Since December 2024, Torino have drawn six of their ten away matches, marking the highest number of away draws in this period.
  • Romelu Lukaku has scored in his last three home league matches. The Belgian striker has only had a longer scoring streak at home once in Serie A, netting in seven consecutive games while playing for Inter.
