Bodoe/Glimt vs Lazio: Lazio to win
Lazio have been in good form on the road. They have won three of their last four away fixtures across all competitions, including victories away to Milan and Atalanta.
An expected goal difference per 90 of -0.24 for Bodoe/Glimt is by far the worst of any team to make the quarter finals. Of the teams to be eliminated in the previous round, only two had a worse expected goal difference per 90 than Bodoe/Glimt. They have defied the odds to make it this far in the competition, but it’s hard to see them going any further given their relative lack of quality and poor underlying numbers.
An implied probability of 45.5% on a Lazio win seems on the low side. They have the second-best expected goal difference so far in the Europa League, and they are clearly comfortable getting wins on the road.
Lyon vs Manchester United: Lyon to win
Lyon have won six of their last seven matches. Manchester United played out a tedious goalless draw with Manchester City on Sunday, following on from a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Ruben Amorim’s side have played some of their best football in the Europa League, but this is a challenging matchup for a United team with one away win since January. That victory came against a woeful Leicester team.
Lyon have lost a single home match since October, which came at the hands of PSG. Their home form is impressive, including scoring 18 goals across their last six home fixtures. This attack should have no problem breaking down this Manchester United defence, even if Amorim opts to sit deep.
Rangers vs Athletic Club: Rangers to win or draw
Athletic Club have only won two of their last seven matches. They have failed to score in their last two fixtures and haven’t won away from home since mid-January.
Rangers have already had some big scalps in this season’s Europa League, including wins over Nice and Fenerbahce. They have also avoided defeat against Olympiacos and Tottenham. Despite the defeat to Hibernian at the weekend, Rangers will have plenty of belief ahead of this match, and they will be roared on by a hostile Ibrox faithful.
Even with some disappointing home results of late, Ibrox is a tough place to go on a European night. The Scottish club are a good bet to take something from this match, giving them a real chance of completing the upset at San Mames.
Tottenham vs Eintracht Frankfurt: BTTS and over 2.5 goals
Eintracht Frankfurt have kept one clean sheet in their last 13 matches. Over 2.5 has cashed in seven of Tottenham’s 10 Europa League matches this season.
Like United, Tottenham have often reserved their best football for the Europa League. They have managed to get results when they’ve needed them most, but we still can’t place any faith in the hosts getting a win here given how inconsistent they have been domestically.
This match projects to be very open with both attacks likely to cause the opposing defences problems. Both sides struggle to limit opponent chances, so we think this is a good betting option to wrap up this Europa League accumulator.
