Serie A returns at the weekend after an eventful mid-week round, and with that, Daniele Fisichella has chosen Atalanta vs Juventus for his Bet Builder tips article.
The game will be played on Sunday (17:00 kick-off in the UK) and represents the first top of the table clash for both sides, who achieved a 1-0 win apiece in midweek. Will the Orobici be able to leapfrog the visitors in the table?

Atalanta’s win at Verona on Wednesday testified to the progress Giampiero Gasperini’s side has made so far. They had to battle hard to get away with the three points from Marcantonio Bentegodi, as they showed resilience and good game management.
This was Atalanta’s third consecutive win without conceding goals and the fifth clean sheet they kept in seven matches in all competitions. A rarity, if you consider Atalanta, have won back-to-back Serie A without conceding only for the first time since October 2022.
The Orobici seem to have found the right balance between playing with a low defensive block but still making the most of their skilful attackers and midfielders.
Against Verona, they had a few chances to increase their lead, and that’s probably the only negative point. The top sides, like Juventus, will concede far fewer chances, and they need to become more clinical if they want to challenge for a top-four finish.
Atalanta started well defensively also last season: they conceded only three goals in their first eight Serie A games but ended the campaign with the fifth-worst domestic defence. Can they keep Juventus at bay?
It has become increasingly hard to predict what sort of games Juventus are going to have.
Not playing in Europe did not benefit them last Saturday when they got beaten 4-2 against Sassuolo. But on Tuesday, against Lecce, they showed greater determination and focus.
They won by the odd goal and did not concede the in-form visitors any shot on target.
Despite having had two poor games so far, against Bologna and Sassuolo, Juventus have enjoyed their best start of the season since 2019/2020, when under Maurizio Sarri, they were crowned champions.
Federico Chiesa is by far Juve’s most in-form player: the Euro 2021 champion has already scored four goals in Serie A (as many as he has achieved in the previous two campaigns with Juve) and looks very comfortable in his new role of striker next to Vlahovic or Milk.
Both Atalanta and Juventus have scored in every single game they’ve played this season, and although a friendly in August finished 0-0, I’m expecting this to be an entertaining game.
The visitors have won two away games to nil (vs Udinese and Empoli), but their midfield suffered against sides who can keep the ball well and have got pace up front.
After Sunday, we will know more about Atalanta and Juventus’ ambitions for the season.
It’s worth taking into account that Atalanta should be the most tired of the two teams, having played in the Europa League against Raków Częstochowa no longer than a week ago.
The Bergamaschi are also without Gianluca Scamacca and Bilal Tourè, who are both injured and might need to make a couple of changes to their starting XI.
Both sides have taken over five corners per game on average in Serie A but haven’t yet faced teams who qualified for the Champions League last year.
I’m not a great fan of head-to-head statistics, but it’s worth noting that in the last two seasons since Massimiliano Allegri has returned to Juventus, this match has seen very few goals, with the exception of a 3-3 draw in January in Turin.
There have been precisely ten corners on three out of four occasions, with the other recording 16. Two out of three Juventus games away from home have produced exactly ten corners, and there were nine in their recent trip to Sassuolo.
