Bayern vs Leverkusen Bet Builder: Friday, September, 30th

We have Bayern vs Leverkusen bet builder tips here for you at bettingexpert, as Germany provides an introduction to the weekend that will likely overshadow the rest of European football. Both sides arrive on the back of shaky starts domestically, with a win on Friday sure to offer a much-needed momentum boost.

Bayern vs Leverkusen Preview

Friday, September 30th, 19:30 (UK)

A ‘shaky start’ is probably a bit of a kind take for the superclub Bayern has flourished into in the modern era. The current points haul after seven games is Bayern’s worst Bundesliga return in 12 years. In Leverkusen’s camp, it’s a similar story – only once have they mustered fewer than five points at this stage, and that was 40 years ago.

It’s business as usual when sniffing around the underlying metrics in Germany. The Bavarian giants, who so often rule the roost, have run away with proceedings in the xG stakes. In the attacking third, the 17.5xG tells a familiar tale while also offering the lowest xGA total (5.8xGA) in the division at the other end. Yet, where it really matters come season’s end, in the cold, hard accumulation of points – Bayern limps behind league leaders Union Berlin in fifth.

Nevertheless, the Bundesliga season is still in its infancy, but this doesn’t happen in Germany. The 1-0 Augsburg loss will have been stewing in the complex, tactically crammed mind of Julian Nagelsmann over the international break. The crushingness of an Augsburg clean sheet is as much of a rarity as anything you’ll come across in German football, given it ended a three-season long run of Bayern Munich scoring in 87 Bundesliga games.

Some will perceive Leverkusen’s trip to Munich as one that is excellently timed for Gerardo Seoane’s squad. When better to pit yourself against the riches at Bayern’s disposal than now? Unfortunately for Leverkusen, a side devoid of too much rhythm at present, I fear it could be the exact opposite.

Weirdly, at the same stage of last season, Bayern approached match day eight after losing for the first time the week before. The 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt was the only match where they failed to win up to that point in 2021/22, with Bayer Leverkusen the team next up in the footballing schedule on week eight. As luck would have it, Bayern’s first loss this season, again on game week seven, sets up Leverkusen as Bayern’s next chapter in a choppy campaign to date littered with draws.

A 1-5 lesson of sorts arrived in Leverkusen’s backyard. Goals shared between Lewandowski, Müller, and Gnabry made it 0-5 before half-time in an abject 45-minutes for the hosts. If the 2022/23 season’s first encounter between the pair is as rough of a ride as what played out after the Eintracht Frankfurt loss, it could be good night early doors in Munich.

Bayern vs Leverkusen Stats & Facts

  • The one 2022/23 clean sheet kept by Leverkusen is the second-worst showing in the division. Only Bochum, with no shut-outs, kick off matchday eight with a worse record.
  • Leverkusen’s 11.9xG ranks them third in the Bundesliga as two of the top three in expected goals ready themselves for the Friday night clash.
  • Joshua Kimmich has taken the most corner kicks throughout Europe’s top five leagues with 44.
  • Kerem Demirbay enters the weekend with a personal achievement ticked off, scoring in three consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in his career.

Bayern Munich have overseen at least two corners in the first half of matches in 71% of games this season. In the second 45, that percentage ramps up to 100%, with three or more corners landing in 86% of Bundesliga matches. Unfortunately, Leverkusen doesn’t exactly fit the bill for the corner angle. In their opening seven matches, only 29% of games encouraged two or more corners in the first half, while the second half offers a 57% strike rate.

Not the best, granted, but the likely wave after wave of Bayern attacks to put to bed any growing concerns in Germany should be more than Leverkusen can handle. Inadvertently, peppering the away side’s goal should lead to a higher intake of corners.

Said attacking intent and pressure in the Leverkusen half should lead to a Bayern victory. Leverkusen have conceded at least two goals in 4/7 Bundesliga excursions this campaign, including Augsburg, Hoffenheim and Freiburg, all at home. The Allianz Arena is no place for a weary Bundesliga outfit.

  • Bayern Win
  • O1.5 FH Bayern Corners
  • O1.5 SH Bayern Corners
