Boca Juniors vs Monagas Bet Builder Tips: Thursday, June, 29th

The group stages of the Copa Libertadores conclude this week and we have Boca Juniors vs Monagas bet builder tips.

Azul y Oro have already booked their place in the knockout stages, and a result at the La Bombonera will see them top Group F.

The rest of the sides all stand a chance of qualification. Only a win will do for Monagas and the Venezuelans must rely on results elsewhere.

Boca Juniors vs Monagas Preview

Copa Libertadores, Thursday, June 29th, 23:00 (UK)

Boca Juniors’ defence of their 35th Liga Profesional title has been poor. I Genovesi wallow in mid-table, closer to the foot of the division (11 points) then the helm with rivals River Plate 25 points ahead.

The Copa Libertadores provides their best chance of silverware this campaign. Jorge Almirón’s side’s 1-0 victory over Colo Colo saw them book their place in the knockout stages and should see them top the group, unless they lose on Thursday and Deportivo Pereira win by four goals.

Their preparation for this tie has not been ideal though. One point won across the two games, one goal scored and five conceded.

With qualification to the next stage and a hectic schedule on the horizon, Alimron may shuffle his deck here which could see Valentin Barco and Martin Payero feature from the off.

Exequiel Zeballos, Luis Advincula and Norberto Briasco are all unavailable, and frontman Dario Benedetto is a doubt.

Monagas held Boca Juniors to a stalemate in the first game of the Copa Libertadores campaign, frustrating the Argentinian giants who had two men sent off.

Despite that promising start, Monagas won their first game early this month beating Deportivo Pereira 1-0 to lift them off the foot of the table and give them a slim chance of qualification.

Boca Juniors vs Monagas Bet Builder

Boca have not lost at La Bombonera since mid-March, winning five of the six games since.

They have not exactly been at their free scoring best recently though, scoring one goal in each of their last three home games. In fact, Boca have only scored two or more in two of their last 10 games. Over that period, both teams to score has clicked just once and 90% of the games have seen two or fewer goals scored.

As previously mentioned, Jorge Almirón’s side have already qualified for the knockout stages. His side have three games within the space of a week coming up and several injuries to contend with. With little riding on this game for the hosts we should see a rotated XI and this could lead to a disjointed performance with chances of a premium.

So it is bad news if you are hoping for goals, and Boca’s opponents are not exactly box office.

Monagas have averaged less than a goal a game in all competitions this season. On the road, they have failed to score in 66.6% of their nine games.

I was originally looking for some way to get Venezuelans onside given the dynamic of the game and the 13.00 about an away victory appealed but Monagas’ poor away form is pretty damning.

Instead, I will be siding with a lack of goals by combining under 2.5 with both teams to score ‘no’.

We’re using the Bet Builder on bet365 here as it gives us the freedom to choose the timeframe for this particular market. We can break the timeframe down by either half but there’s little use here as we’re going for the entire match.

Shrewd punters may fancy backing a 1-0 or 2-0 scoreline and backing no first goalscorer also appeals at chunky odds. This clash has the whiff of a damp squib to me though.

  • Under 2.5 Goals
  • Both Teams to Score ‘No’

Bet Builder odds: 2.30
