The German Bundesliga has been dominated by Bayern Munich for a long long time, they’ve been crowned champions for 10 consecutive seasons but it’s Edin Terzic’s side who lead the way with just five games left to play. The league leaders at game week 29 in every season since 2006/2007 have gone on to win the title, no pressure Dortmund!
Bochum have had a difficult year in the top flight, they’ve conceded the most goals with Schalke being the only side to score less than them. They’re currently in 15th place, just two points off the relegation places but have performed better at home this campaign. 19 of their 27 points have been won here and they did take a point in this fixture last season.
Dortmund have a negative goal difference on the road after 15 outings and haven’t recorded a win in any of their previous four away days in the Bundesliga. A win here is a must if they’re wanting to pip Bayern to the title.
Edin Terzic’s men will arrive here after hitting Frankfurt for four over the previous weekend, Jude Bellingham opened the scoring whilst an inform Donyell Malen and Mats Hummels put the game to bed before the break. The Dutchman grabbed himself a brace in the 4-0 beating and has now found the back of the net in five of his last six league matches.
Thomas Letsch’s side need to bounce back quickly after they were dismantled 5-1 at home to Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon, it’s now four games without a win and just two clean sheets in 14 since the return.
I’ve always labelled Dortmund as one of the most inconsistent sides in football, they’re more than capable of beating sides with ease but are prone to a shock result. They’re strong favourites here to grab all three points and are currently priced at 1.54 but I’d be more inclined to back goals rather than them to earn a victory.

Donyell Malen has been in great form in recent weeks, he’s scored seven times this season but all of those have arrived since February 19th. He’ll be expected to start given his brace at the weekend. Malen has had a SoT in six of his last seven starts for Dortmund, only failing away to Leipzig. He scored after coming on at the break against Bayern and could be the man Dortmund will be looking at for a goal.
Corners are usually a tricky market but I’m confident we’ll see a fair few between these two. At home, Bochum’s matches average 10.14 per game with eight or more taken in 13 of their 14 home clashes.
Dortmund’s away averages are even higher with 12.20 corners taken, 12 of their 15 away trips have finished with eight or more. This line landed in the reverse as well as in the DFB Pokal clash here in February where Terzic’s side ran out 2-1 winners.
