Germany, Bundesliga, Friday, August 25th, 19:30 (UK)
RB Leipzig were in a buoyant mood after trouncing Bayern Munich in the Super Cup before the start of the Bundesliga campaign. However, they were narrowly beaten by Bayer Leverkusen in their first match. The game was closely contested, but Marco Rose’s side needed to get back to winning ways so they didn’t give up ground in the race for the title.
Stuttgart were sublime in their opener. They beat Bochum 5-0 and committed from start to finish. They were involved in a relegation battle last season but will be looking to make strides up the Bundesliga table this campaign.
RB Leipzig’s opening match against Leverkusen saw 25 shots. The last five meetings between Leipzig and Stuttgart have seen an average of 29.8 shots per game. Leipzig’s last ten competitive matches have seen 24.4 shots per game.
Stuttgart’s two competitive matches so far this season have seen 25 shots. Despite battling relegation last season, Stuttgart averaged the fourth most shots per game of any side in the Bundesliga. Their matches saw an average of 25.38 attempts per game.
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, August 26th, 14:30 (UK)
Koln finished 11th last season, subsequently making the most of the free transfer market this summer, and are now capable of pushing on. They were beaten by Borussia Dortmund last weekend but were unlucky not to come away with something. Steffen Baumgart’s team had just 33% possession but looked dangerous when counter-attacking.
Wolfsburg were victorious on opening weekend as they beat newly-promoted Heidenheim 2-0. They failed to qualify for European football last season and will be hoping to remedy that this time around.
Koln had 11 shots away in Dortmund, and they should have more opportunities to venture forward here. They averaged 14.71 shots per game at home in the Bundesliga last season, the fifth most in the league. This bet has landed in the previous four meetings between these sides, with Koln having 16.5 shots per game over that period.
Wolfsburg also ranked highly in terms of shots conceded last season. In their away matches, their opponents averaged 16.06 shots per game. Heidenheim managed 14 shots at the Volkswagen Arena last weekend.
Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, August 26th, 14:30 (UK)
Heidenheim won the Bundesliga 2 last season to earn their promotion to the Bundesliga. They lost last weekend, but there were some positives for a side that should be battling against relegation. They were competitive against Wolfsburg and were unfortunate not to score. Expect similar attacking intent when they play in front of their fans this weekend.
Hoffenheim were also beaten last weekend. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team created numerous chances in their recent Bundesliga fixture, but they were wide open in defence. The club has competed in Europe in recent years, but they finished last season just two points above the drop zone.
This game looks primed for shots. Hoffenheim’s opener against Freiburg saw a whopping 40 strikes in the match. Their visit to Lubeck, the DFB Pokal, prior to the start of the Bundesliga, saw 42 attempts.
Heindenheim’s two competitive matches this season also oversaw this bet win. They had all 30 shots in their 8-0 win over Rostocker in the German Cup. Their opening league match against Wolfsburg saw 32 strikes at goal. The upcoming fixture with Hoffenheim should see both teams create their fair share of chances.
