We’ve got Champions League final prop tips ahead of Saturday’s showpiece. Manchester City and Inter will compete for the 2023 famous trophy. The prop lines are extensive for this one and we’re exploring five of them ahead of kick off. We’ve got Manchester City vs Inter bet builder tips for the match too but right now, we’re looking at the props.
In this article:
Champions League Final, Saturday, June 10th, 20:00 (UK)
Pep Guardiola’s side are strong favourites for Manchester City vs Inter Milan in the Champions League Final this Saturday. City have already lifted the Premier League and the FA Cup so this clash will determine whether they become the first English side to win the treble since 1999.
City have evolved over the course of the season; becoming a formidable outfit in both the attacking and defensive phases of the game. Guardiola has successfully integrated Erling Haaland and adapted his team’s shape to get the most out of his players.
Inter have been underwhelming this campaign. They failed to put any pressure on Napoli in the race for the Scudetto. Simone Inzaghi’s men finished 3rd but success in this competition would eclipse any of their domestic ambitions from the start of the season.
Despite falling short over the course of the season, Inter have been in tremendous form in recent months. They have won 11 of their last 12 matches in all competitions. Their only defeat came away to Napoli. Over this period, they are scoring 2.42 goals per game and conceding just 0.75. They will have to be at the very peak of their powers in order to boast similar statistics against Manchester City.
For those who have read the props previews throughout the season, this first angle will come as no surprise. Manchester City’s matches see the fewest throws in the Premier League and this trend has continued in the Champions League.
City’s Champions League matches this season have seen an average of exactly 30 throws per game. This is 4.08 less per game than AC Milan, whose matches have had the 2nd lowest amount of throws in this season’s competitions. There have been 31 throws or less in nine of City’s last 10 competitive matches.
The average amount of throws per Champions League match since the start of the group stage is 35.33. Inter’s matches in this tournament see fewer throws than the overall average. Their 12 matches this season have seen an average of 34.5 throws per game.
Manchester City’s matches in this competition also rank low in terms of tackles. The 26.83 tackles per City match means only Sevilla games saw fewer tackles per 90 in the Champions League this season. Pep’s side often seek a numerical advantage and opts to shift the ball around quickly instead of running directly at their opponents.
Both of Manchester City’s matches against Real Madrid in the semi-finals saw exactly 29 tackles. In fact, their home tie against Bayern was their only Champions League knockout match this season that has seen more than 29 tackles. Their last 10 matches in all competitions have seen 27.2 tackles per match.
Inter matches have seen the 4th fewest tackles since the group stage began. Their matches are seeing an average of 30.75 tackles per game. Inzaghi’s team are forcing just 13 tackles from their opponent in each of their Champions League matches this season.
Our third bet follows a similar trend to the previous two. Manchester City’s ability to dictate the flow of a game and dominate possession means that the ball seldom goes out of play. This is also reflected in the number of goal kicks that their matches see and this is not just an example of availability bias.
City’s matches in this tournament are averaging 11.92 goals kicks. This is the 2nd lowest tally of any of the 32 sides that participated in the group stages. In the Premier League, Pep Guardiola’s side’s matches also see the fewest goal kicks.
Inter have been able to force an average of 6.67 goal kicks from their opponents in this season’s tournament. This is below the average per match for a team in this tournament and they will be hard-pressed to maintain a period of sustained pressure against a Manchester City side that have just 4.25 per game in this competition.
Our final angle is Manchester City shots. They are capable of laying siege to the Inter goal in this one. They have a wealth of sublime attacking players and all will be keen to write their names in history with the team chasing the treble.
Both domestically and in Europe, City are averaging just under 16 shots per game this season. However, the magnitude of this fixture should mean they rack up the attempts if they don’t take an early lead. Pep’s side have to deal with the weight of expectation coming into this one so expect them to go for the jugular from the off.
Inter have improved since the group stages but they faced Bayern Munich in this phase of the competition. The German champions are the closest team they have faced in terms of quality to Manchester City. Bayern managed 21 and 23 shots against Inter.
