There is no time for Tuchel’s men to linger on the disappointment as they face Crystal Palace in a crucial FA Cup semi-final on Sunday. The FA Cup is Chelsea’s last chance of a trophy this season and securing a place in the final would give the fans something to shout about after a tumultuous period with ownership of the club in the process of changing hands.

Despite the fact I’m exepcting a spirited display from Crystal Palace, I still believe Chelsea have enough about them to win the game in 90 minutes. Thomas Tuchel has proven himself a savvy tactician in knockout competitions since taking the reins at Stamford Bridge. The club progressed to both the FA Cup and Champions League final last season under his tutelage and his tactical nous will help them navigate their way past a solid Palace team here.
Chelsea had been undergoing something of a rough patch until last weekend. The team lost back-to-back home games, conceding seven in the process, but they’ve improved massively since. The Blues look menacing going forward and I expect them to display the same attacking intent at the weekend.
The team annihilated Southampton 6-0 in their last league match before heading to Spain and putting three past the 13 time Champions League winners. This illustrates how Chelsea are more than capable of finding the net, so I’m happy to add Chelsea to score two or more goals to my builder for this one.
Finally, I’ll also add a Marcos Alonso card. When these teams met in February, all three players who started on Chelsea’s left hand side received a booking. Alonso is set to play as Chelsea’s left wing back here and he will be tasked with keeping Palace’s rampant wide players quiet. The Spaniard has been booked six times in the Premier League this season and the occasion coupled with the opposition means there is a fair chance he will pick up another here.
