The final matchday in the octagonal CONCACAF World Cup qualifying is here. After a 36-year absence, Canada defied all odds, punched above their weight and have now secured a spot in Qatar.

While the Canucks have already secured qualification regardless of what happens, the United States and Mexico seem likely to join them.

Elsewhere, Costa Rica will most likely follow the playoffs route where they could face New Zealand or the Solomon Islands. All four fixtures will be played simultaneously and we have the best bets to go with from the day’s action.

CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers Best Bets: Thursday 31st March

  • Costa Rica vs USA  – Both teams to score – Yes (2.10)
  • Mexico vs El Salvador –  Over 2.5 Goals (1.60)
  • Panama vs Canada: Canada Over 1.5 Goals – No (2.50)

CONCACAF Acca Odds: 8.40

Costa Rica vs USA Best Bet

Thu, March 31st, 02:05 (UK Time)

USA already have one foot in the World Cup, with the keyword being ‘almost’. The Stars and Stripes put in arguably their best performance under Gregg Berhalter last time out, with the 5-1 thrashing of Panama. Christian Pulisic stole the headlines with a hat trick while Paul Arriola and Jesús Ferreira also got on the scoresheet.

USA now need just a point to secure a spot in Qatar and even defeat could still see them go through.

Mathematically, Costa Rica can still upstage their visitors but they must win by a margin of six goals, which is somewhat a fairytale wish at this point. Realistically though, the hosts will be looking forward to an inter-confederation play-off place.

USA have only lost one out of their last eight qualifiers while Costa Rica have claimed 13 out of their last possible 15. Both sides will want to end on a good note and I can see both teams getting on the scoresheet in a match with a good potential for goals.

  • Selection: Both teams to score – Yes
  • Best Odds: 2.10 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Mexico vs El Salvador Best Bet

Thursday, March 31st, 02:05 (UK Time)

In a similar fashion to the USA, Mexico also need just one point to guarantee themselves a spot and they are in line to see that through.

Not many CONCACAF sides can boast of similar World Cup experience like Mexico and it’s no surprise that El Tri have been at every single World Cup since 1986.

Today, they take on an El Salvador side who can do no better than their current 6th-place finish, having managed only two wins all through the qualifiers. One of those wins came against bottom-placed Honduras and an equally struggling Panama.

History is also on the side of the hosts as well. Mexico have come out on top in their last nine outings with El Salvador, stretching through a 13-year period. In that time, they have scored 25 times, conceding just four.

Thus, I’m expecting the goals to flow in this concluding fixture, as Mexico aim to close their qualifying campaign on a high.

  • Selection: Over 2.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 1.60 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 10/10

Panama vs Canada Best Bet

Thursday, March 31st, 02:05 (UK Time)

Canada are through to the World Cup and they did that in style. On Sunday night, they needed just a point to seal qualification but instead battered Jamaica 4-0, providing emotional scenes on the BMO Field.

One can’t say the Canuks have been lucky, as they beat both heavyweights in Mexico and USA on their road to the top of the octagonal standings.

Out of their 13 games played so far, their only defeat came in a 1-0 setback to Costa Rica, otherwise they have been flawless.

For Panama, they have little to play for here as a victory or a loss would not change their 5th place position. This match is more or less a formality but can they handle a side brewing with much confidence and quality at the moment?

In their four games against Panama, Canada are unbeaten and also won the reverse fixture 4-1 back in October. With qualification already in the bag, I’m backing John Herdman’s side to show their dominance against lesser opposition by putting in another fine attacking display.

  • Selection: Canada Over 1.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 2.50 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10
