Cuiaba vs Fluminense Bet Builder Tips: Deyverson To Edge Into Double Figures
Cuiaba Double Chance
Cuiaba may have lost five of their last six matches – but stick with me here, as there’s plenty of logic behind this selection. They’ve actually been pretty solid at home. In fact, they’ve only lost to those battling it out at the top. A list of Botafogo, Gremio, Palmerias and Atletico MG is far from horrendous.
They’ve recently scalped Flamengo 3-0, held Bragantino and defeated Copa do Brasil champions São Paulo on their own patch – so there’s plenty of optimism back in familiar surroundings.
As mentioned above, Flu has only won one of their last 13 matches in all competitions – which came against Paraguayan outfit Olimpia in the Libertadores. You have to go back to 11th May, the last time they won on the road.
With this match sandwiched in between two Libertadores semi-final matches, expect Diniz to prioritise those matches rather than this encounter.
Deyverson Anytime Goalscorer
If Cuiaba are to score, then it’s likely to be leading talisman Deyverson, who has nine Serie A goals. Only Tiquinho Soares, Vitor Roque, Paulinho and Marcos Leonardo have scored more than the 32-year-old.
The former Libertadores champion scored last time out at home in a 2-2 draw with America MG. He also scored in the previous home match against Flamengo, and as the club’s dedicated penalty taker, there’s room for optimism with this selection.
He may have gone four matches without a goal in between his last two, but all four were on the road. Cuiaba have been poor of late away from their own fans, and this is only a bet I’d recommend at Arena Pantanal at present.
BTTS – Yes
Despite my blind faith in Cuiaba to keep a rotated Fluminense side at bay, they aren’t renowned for keeping clean sheets. With just the one in their last five – which came in their 3-0 victory over Flamengo – Cuiaba will likely make life difficult for themselves.
Despite Flu’s inability to win away from the Maracana, they’ve scored in each of their last five away matches. In fact, they’ve found the back of the net on eight occasions. Rotating their side or not, Fluminense are rarely weakened in the final third.
Whether or not star players such as German Cano or Jhon Arias are rested, Diniz sticks to his positionless play in the opponent’s half – and rarely will we see them draw a blank. With the home side looking to get back on track and Fluminense hoping to hold onto a Libertadores spot, expect goalmouth action at both ends on Saturday evening.
