It’s the semi-final of the Women’s European Championships so we’ve brought the England Women vs Sweden Women bet builder tips. This Tuesday evening bet builder has odds of 7.50 as England host Sweden in Sheffield. With this being the first of two European Championship semi-finals in midweek, we have now reached the business end of the tournament.
In this article:
Tuesday, July 26th, 20:00 (UK Time)
Business that will see one of these two nations advance to the showpiece event on July 31st and with England’s Lionesses finding their roar against Spain in the quarterfinals, now is not the time for them to be silenced.
Especially as Bramall Lane is expected to be far from silent on Tuesday and with Sheffield United’s home ground making way for international football, Sweden must prepare to also face a partisan crowd in attendance.
A crowd that will be willing Sarina Wiegman and her squad to victory. Victory that would put them at least 90 minutes from earning a first major trophy, a victory that would surely mean an explosion for the Women’s game in England.
An explosion that can only come about if Wiegman can repeat what she did five years ago. Back in 2017, the Dutch coach who led her own nation to success at Euro 2017 – a tournament that was hosted in the Netherlands.
Which means the 52-year-old has experience of how to lead the hosts to a trophy. Experience that is going to be needed against Sweden on Tuesday and especially with their own pedigree on the international stage.
Although the Swedes are yet to win a major trophy of their own, they have finished runners-up in the European Championships twice and the World Cup once. Which means, this is a side that England can ill-afford to overlook.
Because as with their male counterparts, this Swedish side is one that is hardworking, resilient and difficult to break down. Attributes that stood them good stead during their quarterfinal clash with Belgium on Friday.
A clash that saw Peter Gerhardsson’s side need a 92nd minute winner to break Belgian hearts. While it was Linda Sembrant who won the hearts of her compatriots in attendance and those watching back in Sweden.
Now though, England will look to break some hearts of their own. After having to come from behind against Spain in their last outing, they will look to take control of affairs from the off. Which is why backing them for a halftime and fulltime win at odds of 2.75 is worth your consideration.
While for those who believe it is going to need 120 minutes rather than 90 on Tuesday, the risk could well be worth the reward. A risk that comes with backing England to win after extra time, the reward that comes at odds of 10.00.
Before Tuesday’s clash gets underway, I have placed some of my focus at the interval and here I believe that England will be a goal to the good. A goal that will be one of no more than two in total, as Sarina Wiegman’s side reach the final at the end of the month.
