An exciting game is on the cards as Roma take on Feyenoord in Tirana for the first-ever final of the Conference League. All eyes will be on Jose Mourinho, with the Roma boss boasting a pedigree that only few can rival when it comes to finals. Feyenoord have equal quality to show and are deserving finalists in their own regard.
Roma might be the bookmakers’ favourite but it is actually a game that can go either way. I’ve gone for a bet builder of 9.00 odds as an exciting matchup lies in wait.

Tirana’s Air Albania Stadium will host the inaugural final of the UEFA Europa Conference League as Roma and Feyenoord battle to become the first-ever winners of the competition. Roma have lost their last two UEFA finals and Mourinho will be hoping he can make it third time lucky for the Rome outfit.
On the domestic scene, a 3-0 win for Roma on the final day of Serie A was enough to secure Europa League football, via the sixth-placed route. This at least takes off the pressure of needing to win to achieve European football next season.
Despite losing twice in the competition – away to Bodø/Glimt on both occasions, the road to the final has been rather easygoing for the Italians. They only really struggled against Vitesse in the round of 16, where they managed a 2-1 aggregate victory.
On the path for Feyenoord, their domestic campaign did not end as they would have hoped. A 2-1 defeat to Twente on the final day was still enough to secure progression to the Europa League qualifiers. If they manage to beat Roma though, they will automatically walk into that spot without the qualifying route.
The odds are against the Dutch side but they can quietly be confident about pulling off an upset, given their strong record in European finals. Feyenoord have played five European finals, winning four and losing only their most recent one to Real Madrid 20 years ago.

The road to the Conference League final saw Feyenoord finish as group winners with a six-point margin over second-placed Slavia Prague. Arne Slot’s men then saw off Partizan, Slavia Prague and Marseille on their road to the final. An interesting theme comes in the fact that the Dutch giants came from behind on three occasions along the way and remain unbeaten in this tournament.
All of the above coupled with the fact that Feyenoord have never lost against Italian opposition should actually give the ‘underdogs’ some confidence.
Of course, we can’t help but mention Jose Mourinho who could make history as a manager. A known serial winner, the Portuguese could now become the first manager to lift all three major European trophies. Mourinho has also never lost in four finals and that alone is something to consider as well.
Lastly, there could be another exciting battle in the form of the golden boot race. Only one goal separates Roma’s Tammy Abraham (9) and Feyenoord’s Cyriel Dessers (10) in the scoring charts, meaning one of both players will surely take the award home.
Both strikers have scored opening goals in each of the last three knockout rounds and will come into this game fired up for more.
As I earlier mentioned, I predict the game could be much closer than expected. For me, there are no favourites and the game could go either way but Mourinho’s experience in finals cannot be ignored and it makes sense to back Roma to go all the way.
I can also see at least two goals scored in regular time, given that both teams know how to score and are also the top-scoring sides in the competition.
Cyriel Dessers has enjoyed a brilliant campaign and could easily do better and get a goal here. In the event that it doesn’t happen though, I can see him troubling the Roma backline with several efforts on target.

A bet builder is a kind of accumulator bet solely focussed on one match. A standard acca features multiple selections across different selections combined together into one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to the American prop bet, the bet builder goes into detail on a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
