Europa League Acca Tips and Predictions: The Quarter Final Awaits

The Europa League is reaching its conclusion as we head into the second leg of the Round of 16. Matthew O’Regan looks at the three games involving the sides from the UK, with goals predicted in two of them, whilst a cagey affair is expected in Manchester.
Tottenham vs AZ Alkmaar : AZ To Torment Tottenham
England, Europa League,Thursday, March 13th, 20:00 (UK)
The pressure has cranked up on Ange Postecoglu after a 1-0 loss in the Netherlands before a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth. The Aussie famously claimed that he ‘always wins things in his second season’ so will be desperate for a win to progress to the next round. In the reverse fixture, his side were poor, losing the xG battle 1.61-0.44. While BTTS didn’t land last week, it has landed in 5/9 Tottenham Europa League games and 11/15 home games in the Premier League.
AZ Alkmaar head into this game as heavy underdogs but will fancy their chances of at least getting on the scoresheet in North London given Tottenham’s defensive fragilities. Maarten Martens side have scored in 34/49 of their games and with Tottenham likely to play on the front foot, they will find real joy on the counterattack. Troy Parrott, the clubs’ top scorer, will be particularly keen to add to his goal tally against his former club.

Manchester United vs Real Sociedad : Cagey Old Trafford
England, Europa League , Thursday , March 11th, 20:00 (UK)
Manchester United’s struggles this season have been well documented, with Ruben Amorim failing to get a tune out of a poor squad he inherited from Erik Ten Hag. It looks an uphill battle to even finish in the top half of the Premier League, so a Europa League triumph looks necessary to eradicate any doubters the Portuguese Gaffer may have.
One of the main issues for the Red Devils is goalscoring- every team above them in the league has scored more than their 34. With Amad Diallo injured and Marcus Rashford out on loan at Aston Villa, there is a lack of goals in this side. BTTS NO has landed in 8/15 home games in the Premier League.
Real Sociedad have scored even less goals than Manchester United, scoring just 23 goals this season. However, defensively they have been strong, conceding just 28 goals. This season, their league games have averaged just 1.88 goals, with BTTS NO landing in 12/13 La Liga away games. With the pressure on both teams to get a result, a cagey game could be in store at Old Trafford.

Rangers vs Fenerbache: In-form Man To Worry The Gers
Scotland, Europa League, Thursday, March 13th, 20:00 (UK)
Rangers stunned Jose Mourinho’s side when they won 1-3 in Istanbul. Barry Ferguson’s side only had eight shots to the hosts 23 but were clinical and ultimately got the job done. It has been a mixed start to Ferguson’s interim reign in charge, so the 47-year-old is likely to sit deep at Ibrox to scrape through to the next round.
Youssef En-Nesyri was poor in the reverse, failing to convert any of his four shots. However, the 27-year-old has been in strong form this season, scoring 26 goals in 40 games, including six in 11 in the Europa League. He is averaging a goal a game in the Super Lig and 0.71 goals per 90 on the continent. In 2025, his form has been taken to a new level, with 17 goals in 15 starts. In a game where the Turkish visitors should have plenty of chances, he looks value to score yet again.

- Best Odds: 2.88
