We have the best bets from Thursday’s Europa League action as we head into the latter stages of the competition. There are a few big names left as they all hunt for a place in the Budapest showpiece come the end of May.
The winner of this competition will also earn a spot in the Champion’s League. The likes of Sevilla and Juventus dropped out of that competition at the group stages. The Europa League is now their best chance of returning to Europe’s elite club competition.

Manchester United performed well at the weekend and they seem to have recovered from a hiccup that has forced them into a battle for a place in the top four. They haven’t won this competition since Jose Mourinho was in charge. Erik Ten Hag is targeting more silverware this season so expect them to be at full strength on Thursday night.
Sevilla have struggled in La Liga this season. They are still not safe from relegation but they have a great affinity for this competition. They have won the Europa League/ UEFA Cup a record six times. Sevilla also eliminated Manchester United from this competition in 2022.
Manchester United have performed extremely well at Old Trafford. They haven’t lost on home turf since Real Sociedad were awarded a controversial penalty in this competition. Ten Hag’s side have already knocked out Barcelona and Real Betis. They will fancy their chances against a lacklustre Sevilla.
Their 25-match unbeaten run at home has seen them average 2.24 goals and they have conceded just 0.48 goals per game. Sevilla dropped out of the Champions League to enter this competition. They haven’t won any of their five European away matches this season and they have failed to score in three of those.

This competition remains Juve’s best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. The Italian giants were handed a 15-point deduction after breaching financial rules in relation to transfer dealings. Without this deduction, Juventus would be 2nd in Serie A so they definitely have the quality to go all the way in this competition.
Sporting knocked out Arsenal in the last round. Ruben Amorim is highly rated across the continent and he showed great tactical nous to lead his team to victory over a strong Gunners side. Pedro Goncalves’s goal at the Emirates highlighted the sort of magic that the side are capable of.
Sporting have the advantage of playing the second leg at home and they would be happy with a draw in Turin. Allegri’s side are conceding just 0.8 goals per game in their last 10 matches. Moreover, both of their home matches in the Europa League so far have seen two goals or less. In fact, there have been less than three goals in seven of Juve’s last nine home matches in all competitions.
The Old Lady have played twelve matches at the Allianz Stadium in 2023. They have won eight of those matches and Monza are the only side to come away with a win. Sporting have only won three of their nine European away matches under Amorim so Juve to looks like a good bet.

Bayer Leverkusen have a very talented squad and were hopeful heading into this season. A poor start has proven costly in terms of league position. They won just one of their first eight league matches under Gerardo Seoane. Xabi Alonso has since come in and turned their fortunes around. Now they are five points off fourth after a string of good results.
Union Saint-Gilloise are second in the Belgian league; two points behind Genk. They eliminated Union Berlin in the last round of this competition. Karel Garaert’s team will be looking to claim another German scalp here.
Things have really started to click under Alonso at Leverkusen. Florian WIrtz, Amine Adli, and Moussa Diaby have been thriving in this setup. The three possess the pace and technical ability to cause problems for any opponent.
Leverkusen have won their last seven matches in all competitions. Over this period they have scored an average of 2.71 goals per game. They have been free-scoring for much of Alonso’s tenure. They are averaging 2.14 goals per game at home since the Spaniard took charge. This is despite enduring a difficult start at the club; recording just one win in his opening seven matches.
Odds via bet365 as at 10:45 April 12th 2023. Odds may now differ.
