The current Copa Libertadores holders are in action at the Maracanã where they’ll be expecting to get revenge over the Ecuadorian side who won the reverse fixture back in April. At bettingexpert Expert Insights, we have constructed a bet builder for this clash.
In this article:
Copa Libertadores, Thursday, June 29th, 01:30 (UK)
Jorge Sampaoli’s side are priced as second-favourites to retain their Copa Libertadores crown later this year with fellow Brazilian side, Palmeiras, the front-runners. They face an Aucas side who have struggled on the road in recent weeks.
The hosts are massive favourites heading here, 1.14 is the best odds you’ll get at the current time of writing with other firms pricing them as low as 1.06. Aucas are not fancied whatsoever by any means, 26.0 is what they’ve been priced up as.
Flamengo’s home form has been rather strong since the opening day of the league campaign, they’ve recorded victories in four of their six at home in Brazil’s Serie A. The current champions have earned maximum points in both clashes here in this competition, a goal difference of 4-1.
The Brazilian club have won eight of 10 matches at the Maracanã under Sampaoli, six of those have come to nil.
Racing Club currently tops the group after 5 matchdays, they created 0.46xG in their clash in Brazil whilst Chilean outfit, Nublense, recorded a lowly three shots and a mere 0.09xG in round two.
When there is a huge favourite, selecting a bet builder for that clash can often require some creativity. I was always looking to get the hosts on my side but the odds were remarkably low, somewhat understandable given the difference in size and quality between the two clubs.
Flamengo have led at the break in both of their Copa Libertadores matches in Brazil, they went off at a very similar price against Nublense and absolutely wiped the floor with them. I’m expecting a similar theme here which provides an odds against selection that appears inviting.
Aucas have failed to score in any of their three previous away trips in the league, they’ve managed just five in seven matches. Flamengo will be a huge step up in class, so their chances may be few and far between in attacking areas.
Despite scoring in both away trips in Argentina and Chile, they managed just 13 shots combined and a little over 1xG. They’re priced around 2.50 to make it a hat trick in finding the back of the net as the group stage comes to a close.
60,000+ fans are expected to be in attendance for this clash with the vast majority cheering on the Brazilian giants. There were just 5,000 in the reverse fixture so it just shows the sheer magnitude in popularity.
Flamengo should start quickly out of the blocks, they’ve led at the break in each of their previous three matches here. Gabriel Barbosa, also known as Gabigol is expected to play a part, he was the only scorer in the 2022 final.
With the odds heavily favouring the hosts, the proposed selection should have some legs at an odds-against price. A comfortable routine win is expected so let’s hope Flamengo follow the script.
