Friday Night Football Acca: August 5th

Friday night sees the return of top-flight football in England and Germany. The second round of Championship games also kick off. I’ve picked my best bet in each of those three fixtures so without further ado let’s get to the tips.

In this article:

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich Preview

Germany, Bundesliga, Friday, August 5th, 19:30 (UK)

It’s over to Germany for the first kick-off and the opening fixture of the 60th Bundesliga season. Bayern Munich begin their quest for an 11th successive title with a tricky trip to the home of the Europa League champions.

For the first time in close to a decade, the Bavarians will be without Robert Lewandowski. The Polish international and winner of the “Kicker-Torjägerkanone” for each of the last five seasons has had his wish granted for a move to Barcelona.

Julian Nagelsmann’s new look side, boasting four debutants made light of having no recognised centre forward last time out. A tenth German Super Cup victory was secured with a 5-3 thrashing of RB Leipzig. Although I expect much rotation in the forward area, one of the new additions catches my eye in the goal scoring markets.
England, Championship, Friday, August 5th, 19:45 (UK)

Birmingham fans would have been encouraged by an opening day point at Luton. After being most people’s tip for the drop it is understandable new manager John Eustace chose to focus on the positive. The 42-year-old stated he was “very proud” of his side’s defensive performance.

In contrast Huddersfield began life under Danny Schofield in disappointing fashion. The Terriers were the fall guys for Vincent Kompany’s debut in English football management. Although losing to the only goal of the game in last year’s defeated play off finalists in truth never laid a glove on the Clarets.

There is a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the Blues’ pending takeover. While Huddersfield are still coming to terms with the shock exit of Carlos Corberan. As a result, this promises to be a tight, tense and cagy affair.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich Best Bet

It’s always good to get off to a good start at a new club and Sadio Mane has done just that. Following his £35m transfer the former Liverpool star scored with his first shot on target then had two further goals disallowed.

Mane is a Nagelsmann signing allowing the Head Coach to play his favoured 4-2-2-2 with no number 9. The spotlight is on the Senagalese star and the feeling is that in this formation he could match Lewandowski’s incredible output. Which makes this a massive price and one I do not expect to be seeing for much longer.

  • Selection: Sadio Mane to score at any time
  • Best Odds: 2.10 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 7/10

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich Best Bet

Birmingham managed just three shots on target at Kenilworth Road. Huddersfield recorded the third lowest xG of 0.2. The dearth of goals in the opening weekend of the Championship is set to continue here. Under 2.5 goals was tempting but at better odds “Both Teams To Score – No” is the confident selection.

  • Selection: Both Teams To Score – No
  • Best Odds: 1.80 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal Preview

England, Premier League, Friday, August 5th, 20:00 (UK)

Arsenal fans must have winced when they saw their team would be heading to Selhurst Park for the opening game of the new campaign. Mikel Arteta endured a wretched Friday night in last season’s curtain raiser and will be keen to avoid a repeat here. An abject Gunners performance saw them bullied to a 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Brentford. Patrick Vieira will be planning to inflict a serious case of deja-vu on his old club.

The Eagles ended last term with a six-game unbeaten home run, keeping clean sheets in all of the last five. One of those games being a 3-0 dismissal of Arsenal in a match they dominated from the first whistle.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal Best Bet

There is plenty of interest in Palace getting a positive result here and rightly so. However, my line of attack is in the props market taking a bet which landed in both league games last year.

Vieira’s side registered a positive goal difference for the first time in their 13 seasons in the EPL last season. With an enviable array of attacking talent, I am taking the home side to have over 3.5 shots on target. Last season the Eagles had five here in April and six when visiting the Emirates in October.

  • Selection: Crystal Palace over 3.5 shots on target (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.62 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Odds as at 23:30 August 5th 2022. Odds may now differ.

What is a Football acca?

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
