Barnsley trudge into Friday night football on the brink of relegation. On Monday, a 0-2 home defeat against fellow favourites for the drop, Peterborough, ensured all hope was lost.

The Tykes now sit rock bottom of the Championship, with their away form having a significant say in Barnsley’s demise. Just the eight points collected from 21 games, made up of 15 losses and one win – simply not good enough.

It’s no wonder that Huddersfield enters the match as heavy 1.57 favourites. The Terriers top the playoff pack in third, adrift from a Cherries side in the second automatic spot.

It’s the same story throughout the EFL. A selection of clubs lines up for the hunt for greater glory, partaking in an ever so tight race to Wembley. Yet, with the prospect of a minor dip in form resigning the unlucky beholder to another treacherous 46-game season, there’s a lot on the line.

Friday night under the lights brings the opening game of the penultimate set of fixtures in Scotland’s second tier. Dick Campbell’s part-timers travel to Kilmarnock to play out what could be the title decider.

One point separates the pair with just two games left. The powers that be who oversee the division couldn’t have scripted it much better.

There have only been two goals in the three head-to-head fixtures this term. September’s bore draw was followed by two 1-0 Arbroath wins. Although the title race itself has been box office for large periods this season, Friday’s final encounter may lack the goals worthy of Hollywood status.

It should map out as a tentative and nervy 90-minutes, the primary focus for both sides being to avoid losing first and foremost. This shared approach may present the overall make-up of this tie as one shy of goals.

FC Twente vs Sparta Rotterdam Best Bets

Taking the three clubs notorious for a stranglehold on Dutch football out of the equation, FC Twente have lost just once all season. Although fourth in the league, Twente ranks in the top percentile for one statistic. Ron Jans’ side has opened the scoring in 71% of home games – a higher strike rate than each of the Netherlands’ big hitters.

Impressively, Twente also managed to break the deadlock in 11 of 15 away from home. Overall, Twente shares the honours with Ajax, with both sides scoring first in 21 of 29 matches.

For Twente to inflict the same torment on Sparta Rotterdam and have enough for the three points, we can get 1.80 at William Hill.

Twente’s 1.57 goals per90 average at the Grolsch Veste Stadium suggests they are more than capable of registering here, with the form to back up their ability to find the net.
