Honestly, it is a tough one to call. A quick look at the completed League One standings will offer insight into how similarly the two sides have performed throughout the campaign.

Both home and away records mirror each other, as fifth hosts fourth in Sunderland. Recent form can be picked apart and analysed to little joy, with Wednesday earning just one more point in their last five, scoring 11 goals to Sunderland’s ten in said timeframe.

This is League One’s glamour tie. Two huge football clubs and stadiums to match. Both languishing in an unforgiving division with those who visit raising their game every other week, ready and willing to pick up a scalp from a Premier League has-been.
