I have pored over the stats to bring you my Borussia Monchengladbach vs Dortmund bet builder tips. As Borussia Park plays host to the big Friday night fixture in the German Bundesliga.
In this article:
Friday, November 11th, 19:30 (UK)
The Bundesliga has just completed a full round of midweek fixtures. After which, both these sides who kick off matchday 15 will be looking to bounce back from disappointing defeats.
With just 12 minutes on the clock, Gladbach found themselves 2-0 down to 18th-placed Bochum. Alassane Pléa halved the deficit following a superb Marcus Thuram assist and nearly snatched an unlikely point. Ramy Bensebaini having his late header chalked off by VAR for offside.
It was a fourth defeat in five competitive games for the Foals. Collecting just four points from the last 15 available has seen them slide to 9th in the table. Daniel Farke described his team’s performance on Tuesday as “lazy”. Demanding “a different mindset” ahead of this clash against a side six points ahead of them in 6th.
After three successive league wins by an aggregate scoreline of 10-1, BVB returned to earth with a bump at Wolfsburg. Falling behind to Wolves after six minutes with Micky van de Ven heading home from a corner. The noisy home faithful were sent home happy when the points were settled by an excellent Lukas Nmecha finish in added-on time.
Edin Terzic now finds his side six points adrift of Bayern Munich at the top of the table. With the league leaders set to face bottom side Schalke this weekend, the pressure is on Die Schwarzgelben to register a win here. Having won 14 of the previous 16 head-to-heads, confidence will be high they can do just that.
Calling a winner here is a tricky conundrum. The home side are on a poor run of form winning just one of their last five league games. While Dortmund have lost four of their last five league away games. Unravelling that knotty issue is of no interest to me when there are other strong statistical avenues to explore.
Goals definitely look on the menu. As highlighted above 16 of Gladbach’s last 20 home Bundeliga games have seen three or more goals. Farke’s side have scored in each of their last eight outings with both teams scoring in all of the last seven. BVB were in good form prior to their defeat to an in-form Wolfsburg outfit. The visitors will be confident of exploiting the brittle confidence of their hosts in a game both will be desperate to win. As a result, expect plenty of goalmouth action in both side’s final outing before the World Cup break. Over 2.5 goals is a solid foundation for our builder.
In order to boost our odds to 2.37 I want to get Jude Bellingham onside. Not for the first time this season and with good reason. With three league goals this term only fellow teen Youssoufa Moukoko (6) has more goals than the 19-year-old from Stourbridge.
However, it is the England midfielder’s shot count that is of interest to me here. A total of 31 attempts at goal is nine more than Moukoko and nearly double that of any of his other colleagues. Twelve of those shots have been on target, just one fewer than the Cameroon born top scorer.
Bellingham has had a shot on target in 10 of his 14 Bundesliga appearances as well as four of his five Champions League outings. Having hit the target in a combined 74% of his games for Dortmund this season makes the addition of him having at least one here a very solid one.
Bet Builder odds: 2.37
