Spain, La Liga, Saturday, February 24th, 13:00 (UK)
Granada sit six points adrift of safety in La Liga, and although they’ve not lost in their last three matches, they haven’t picked up a win since Cadiz on 3rd January.
However, a 3-3 draw away to Barcelona showed a different side to their game which we haven’t seen often. It’s not too late to save their season, and now the goals have picked up, fans may remain slightly more optimistic.
Granada’s top goalscorer Myrto Uzuni (seven) also got back on the scoresheet vs Almeria after a drought, and their leading talisman in 22/23 may have to play an important role in their fight for survival.
Despite a recent surge of goals, the hosts have only scored 27 in 25 to date, and have drawn 11 blanks this campaign.
Valencia, on the other hand, are fighting at the other end of the table and are hot on the heels of Real Betis who currently occupy 6th place. However, unlike Granada, goals have dried up a little of late.
Despite wins over Almeria and Athletic Bilbao at home, defeats without scoring against Atletico Madrid, Las Palmas and a goalless draw with Sevilla has frustrated fans.
In those defeats on the road, Valencia only conjured up three shots on target. Admittedly, Granada are far weaker opponents, but 14 goals in 13 away games isn’t convincing.
It’s worth pointing out in the reverse leg Valencia came out on top 1-0 thanks to a Pepelu penalty, which may well suggest another tight affair with so much on the line for both teams.
Granada vs Valencia Prediction odds via bet365 as at 09:00, February 20th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Thierry Correira, Andrea Almeida, and Diego Lopez all missed out in Valencia’s 0-0 draw on the weekend and will likely to do so again, with Diego Lopez the only one in the balance.
Raul Fernandez, Lucas Boye, and Jesus Vallejo will be unavailable for Valencia’s trip to Granada. Ignasi Miquel returns after a suspension for accumulated yellow cards which provides a boost for the hosts.
Granada possible starting lineup:
Batalla; Neva, Rubio, Piatkowski, Sanchez, Villar, Hongla, Ruiz, Melendo, Uzuni, Pellistri
Valencia possible starting lineup:
Mamardashvili; Gaya, Mosquera, Diakhaby, Foulquier, Canos, Guillamon, Pepelu, Perez, Duro, Yaremchuk
