We’re just 10 days away from the Champions League and with Liverpool looking to avenge the 2018 final loss to Real Madrid, you can expect the Kop faithful to fill up the streets of Paris.

That, however, will not be easy on Liverpool supporters’ pockets.

We researched the cost of a round trip from Liverpool to Paris, the cost of staying there for the final (via AirBnb and Booking.com), the price of a Category 3 ticket and four ‘inexpensive’ meals in Paris and you’d have to shell out £2,292 for the experience.

If you’re flying in from London (Heathrow), the price will be slightly higher as it’ll burn a £2,417 hole in your pocket.

While the cost is definitely high, Liverpool fans can have solace in the fact that they’ll have to spend less than Real Madrid fans as the total cost when flying in from Madrid is £2,348.

AirBnb and Booking.com listings see a major hike on the day of the Champions League final

As is the case with the Europa League final, the prices for listings on both AirBnb and Booking.com increase dramatically on May 28, the day of the final.

AirBnb prices in Paris increased by 62.21% on May 28, keeping May 27 as the base. On May 27, the day before the final, we saw an astronomical 191.99% increase.

The figures are even more mind-boggling on Booking.com. The increase in prices on the day of the final is by 22.17% but a day before, we see a ridiculous 503.08% increase.

A round trip from Liverpool is slightly cheaper than a round trip from Heathrow

If you’re flying into Paris on May 28, the Liverpool John Lennon airport is a more economical option than Heathrow.

A round trip from the former will cost £653.15 - £124.16 less than the £777.30 from Heathrow.

Planning is key to saving costs

It’s evident that costs are extremely high if you want to visit Paris for the Champions League final. Flying in early makes more economic sense than just arriving for the final, unless you plan to not stay at an AirBnb or hotel.

Methodology

  • We collected per night costs on both AirBnb and Booking.com for the duration presented in the article
  • To collect flight prices, we used Google Flights as the source
  • We used Numbeo to ascertain the price for four inexpensive meals in Paris
  • Category 3 ticket prices were taken from Marca’s travel guide
